Olivia entered the Captain’s ready room with her shoulders held high, the Second officer following closely behind her. They paused in front of Gideon’s desk side by side, waiting eagerly to give their report. Ms. Aldridge began first.
"We will be arriving at the Kalorus system in less than fifteen minutes, sir. We will be dropping out of warp followed by the Cairo and Gorkon shortly thereafter. I suggest we go to Yellow Alert, as we are unaware of the potential risks we will encounter."
The commander turned to Ranul, expecting him to voice his opinion.
Ranul watched Olivia as she spoke, looking for signs of hidden circuitry under her skin. He found it hard to believe that Data, an android, was a more relaxed individual than this supposedly human female. Part of him was convinced she was a machine. Her posture was making his back ache just by observing it.
When she glanced at him, he cleared his throat and turned to the captain.
"We've got the sensors working at top efficiency. I've been running scans of our destination, but there's something odd about the area. I haven't been picking up any of the usual background noise. No EM band emissions, no passive tachyon fields, nothing. I agree with Commander Aldridge's recommendation to go to Yellow Alert."
Olivia nodded with the Trill’s agreement.
"I’ve reviewed the sensor data as well Captain, along with the other ship’s information, I too find it to be very uninformative. I’m not sure what is out there sir, but I do feel we should remain cautious. I’ve recently been updated by engineering and if we do come in contact with danger, we wont necessarily be operating at maximum efficiency during an encounter. We’ve been cruising at warp seven for approximately 160 hours, this in turn has taken a toll on our engines and power supply and we wont reach full recovery until a half an hour post arrival. The other ships require even more, estimating four to six hours."
