He was trapped in the basement again. He could smell the fear from the other side of the door, and he was hungry, so very hungry. The jaguar paced around for a moment, trying to find another way out so that his prey wouldn't know he was coming. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be any other way except for a small window that was fairly high off the ground. It was also in the opposite direction of the food. The large beast looked at the door, considering all of the factors involved in getting out that way. There was just one human behind the door. The others were elsewhere within the house. It wouldn't take much to get past the one holding the door. Then he would simply be able to hunt properly.
He began running towards the door, smashing into it with all his might. The door shattered open, causing the human on the other side to fall helplessly to the ground. The jaguar quickly spun around to face the human. Something inside his head was trying to stop him, but the beast was too strong for the pathetic human within him to control.
"Ollie!" the man called out as he attempted to get back to his feet, "It's me! Come on son, fight it!"
The jaguar's tail flicked to one side as he stared at the man. He then let out a low growl before leaping at the man with a deafening roar. The human's throat was crushed easily by the massive jaws of the beast. There were screams coming from elsewhere now. His task wasn't finished yet. His territory was still being invaded by these humans.
He moved silently into the shadows to investigate where the screams had originated. The scents came to his nose easily due to their fear. Two females were hiding. He leapt onto the coffee table so he could better track them when the younger of the two showed herself. She had long blonde hair which she currently had back in a ponytail. Her eyes were the same as Oliver's. She was thin, barely a snack for the giant cat.
"Brother?" she asked, again something tried to hold him back. The human side was fighting even harder now than before, but it was still to no avail. The jaguar squatted preparing to pounce. "Please Ollie. I know you're in there."
With a growl, the giant animal sprang at the girl, only being halted by a bolt of lightning that shot through the living room window. He crashed into the wall, understandably shaken by the hit.
"Mrs. Branson! Leigh! Run!" A third female's voice called out.
With great effort, the jaguar rose to his feet. He moved as swiftly as possible back into the shadows. He would allow them to escape the house for now. The girl had the advantage when she could see him. He broke through a window in the hall and made his way to the trees. There, he watched as the three females left the house. The witch was keeping an eye out for him, but she was now looking in the wrong direction.
He crept near soundlessly through the trees until he was close enough to pounce. A voice inside the jaguar's head was screaming. Trying to tell the girl to turn around, but she didn't hear it of course. The last thing Oliver remembered prior to waking in a cold sweat was the roar of the jaguar followed by Emily's scream.
