Iconning for the masses.

I'm back! Just thought I'd put that out there.

Anyway, my return to iconning is kicked off with Omari Ismael Grandberry, better known as Omarion. Expressive, adorable, babyfaced, and dance-aholic, Omarion. As an iconist, I'm in love with him. He works the camera, smiling, laughing, sulking, and just generally being expressive in a way that begs for iconning. He's got all the ingredients for a excellent pb. In fact, this set was originally intended for personal use, hence its focus on his shoulder-length cornrows I-am-pensive look.

It's also an old set that puts my "old sets I've decided to upload" to shame. I held off on this set for roughly two years before finishing it up and uploading it. While I do have some more (and updated) images I can icon, I figured this set has been waiting long enough. In fact, any set, has been waiting long enough.

Tupac Amaru Shakur. I don't really think there's anything I can say here that's sufficient. He was a talented musician, and IMO also a talented actor. As a potential PB, I think he wins at pensive expressions.

I've been meaning to upload these for a while. However, I didn't manage to get a good round number of quality pics. Even still, I ended up having to fiddle a lot with the color on some of these, as everything being vaguely dayglo orange was just not working. ;) Overall I'm happy. I managed to get my hands on a copy of Gridlock'd, and plan on screencapping that for more icons.

Snoop Dogg, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Calvin Broadus, whatever you feel like calling him. Most of the icons are redux of an older set I was planning on using these for a particular character. Unfortunately time constraints make that difficult at the moment (although I still have hopes!). In the meantime, someone else may find use for these. Some of the icons were manipped in ways that were specific to the concept, but I think I've managed to clear the modifications off. (Saving copies with the original layers is handy like that.) Incidentally, I love his eyes.

Gina Gershon is a threat to marriages everywhere, and just a tad typecast in that direction. Not surprising. She exudes sexuality, imo, although she has a distinctly unconventional appeal. I fully intend to take some caps of Bound and Prey for Rock and Roll, once I have those movies. Especially Bound. Amusingly enough, she also played the marranzano for the Scissor Sister's song: "I Can't Decide" which is used in one of my favorite Dexter fanvids (NSFW+ S1 spoilers).

I got the images from all over through the magic of google image search. So, basically, it's a lot of candids and promo shoots, with some screencaps thrown in for good measure. Some which were ridiculously difficult to work with. However, I'm happy with them. For the most part at least.

Note: Some icons are NSFW! (Nothing too explicit, but you never know. I'd rather warn than have people run into issues later.)

Here, have some Dan Balan; best known as the manager and member of the now-defunct Moldovan pop-music trio O-zone. Is it me, or could he play a young adult version of "Biney" from Dexter? Although, to me, he will always be the big bro to one of my characters... (Seriously, how many icon sets am I going to make that essentially amount to someone significant in one of my characters' background?)

Incidentally, the Moldovan entry on wikipedia makes tagging him ethnically a bitch. So, I'm using Moldovan in respect for that, despite that some would probably say he is Romanian instead. Confusing? Welcome to the political aspect of ethnic identity.
