"We were close," he confirmed, not able to internalize the past tense of that. Kyu-Sik actually wanted to smile, but unfortunately he gave up when he knew it was coming off as possibly more sullen than he had wanted it to be. Rather than look up at Donovan, he pushed around some of the veggies before putting a few more in his mouth. He chewed and swallowed again before he finally thought of a way he could put it. "I don't know if lucky is the word, really. Things have been weird for awhile."
It was still weird to think about it. They had been so close when they were younger only for things to be almost even awkward now. They were good at not showing it to the people who didn't realize how close they had been. It wasn't as if they did talk at all, especially now that Mi-Ho was living with them again. It just wasn't like how it used to be. She was still upset with him and he knew it. He just had no way to fix it, feeling it more suitable not to bother her.
Kyu-Sik isn't sure what was between Donovan and his siblings, but he was guessing that he wasn't overly attached to any one of them, especially not his older brother. What did that leave a runaway with in the end? It wasn't a boyfriend that had been jailed, that's for sure. "Do you and Altan get along well?"
