As she ducked, the bat instead haphazardly hit the first few items on the shelf it was level with. That was not a zombie reaction. At least he didn't think it was. It had been a long time since he had met anyone actually living though. He stumbled back a bit with her punch, but he bit his lip and shoved her away from him as well. He was perfectly okay with not getting any closer to her than he needed to be. Which at the moment was not close at all. He also wasn't sure what was worse, the sudden and unexpected punch or the claws of his restless cat digging into his shoulder for security.
Even though he was fairly certain of the possibility that she was not a zombie, Mitch still held out the bat in front of him and looked down at her suspiciously. "What's the capital of this state?" His question was a test to make sure she was fully coherent. Even if she wasn't a zombie yet didn't mean that she wouldn't become one soon enough if she had been attacked before.
