Right. Where was he going to put her. He only had one bed and obviously she couldn't sleep there. The rest of his furniture was hardly suitable for sleeping on with the exception of the chair he fell asleep in himself often enough. "I have an extra blanket somewhere, just sleep in the chair by the fireplace or something. You're not very big, you'll fit."
He opened his mouth to tell her she could use whatever he had for hygiene, but the whole idea fell flat when his eyes drifted to her head again. It was something he didn't immediately think of, and it was something he doubted given that it was also winter, but he still would've rather played it safe. The people and animals out on the street were unpleasant and when they weren't carrying unpleasant diseases, they were carrying unpleasant vermin. Michel had gotten lice once before as a child and it wasn't something he wanted to ever deal with again. At the time his mother had dealt with it simply by shaving his head.
Without asking if it was alright, he sat his cup of tea down and stepped behind her to start poking through her hair. "It's a one-room apartment, so don't expect a lot of privacy," he said, the weight of the statement really sinking in his own brain when he heard himself say it. Part of him was still demanding an answer as to why he was doing what he was doing. He was just making up excuses to himself for why he needed to when he knew it was going to be much more difficult than just sending her on her way. He hadn't lived with another person in years. It was hard to really imagine what it was going to be like.
Thankfully, he didn't really see any trace of much in her hair other than the tangles and perhaps some dirt. It really wasn't so bad. She just definitely needed to wash it. "There's a washpan and some cloths over there. The water's clean and there's some soap to the side, too." He motioned over to where he had splashed water on his face prior to his discovery of her. It was the complete opposite as fancy, but it would have to be good enough for her. At least the water was clean.
