Tea. He needed tea. Coffee would've been better, but at the moment tea was all that he had. When the fire was started finally, he went back to the cabinets to look for his tea. Part of it was simply an inability to keep still while he was thinking, but also the caffeine would help get his brain working and she needed something warm. It still wasn't great even though it was slightly better than the tea he had to offer her the last time she had some from him. Not that he should've cared at all. She was intruding and he had forgotten what else he had planned to do in the morning. There was at least no work to get to until that evening, so he did have some time to sort out the situation in a manner that didn't involve her freezing and starving to death on the streets. Or leaving again in the first place. It was a contradictory thought to even him, but he just wasn't sure what to do about it. There was no right way to act.
"Where would you even go if you did leave?!" He started again, putting water into a kettle for boiling. It was a serious question even if it did seem like he was further mocking her. After all, she herself had just said a moment ago that she had nowhere else to go. "Without any shoes in this weather your toes will turn black and fall off eventually. So what exactly do you plan to do when you walk out that door?"
