Michel's admission was met with silence, not expecting to get that much out of him. Though not quite feeling sorry for him, hearing Michel say it in such a way did confirm a lot of her suspicions. She never cared much for going out of her way to impress anyone, and if the bar was ever set too high to jump she found walking under it metaphorically preferable. However, there was one person that Mabelle hated to disappoint, and although she hadn't seen her grandfather in a long time, remembering that helped her slightly understand Michel's attachment to his uncle. Even if Mobius seemed to offer very little in return that warranted such dedication, she did realize that Michel lacked other family members to look up to.
This piece of music was more complex than anything else he had her practice so far, judging by the first few measures that he played, and she hadn't recognized it either. Following the tempo that Michel was tapping didn't allow her a lot of time for hesitation between the notes, even though he had instructed her to play at her own pace. But she wasn't about to call him out for being contradictory. Instead of guessing the chords that she didn't immediately remember or she wasn't certain how to play, she skipped them entirely to keep up with the beat and avoid making things up to fill the silence. Needless to say, there was a lot of awkward pauses and skipped beats in her attempt. Lowering her bow, Mabelle frowned as she stared at the first chord she had missed.
