Though not any less confused, and perhaps a bit bothered, Michel merely raised his eyebrows in interest. With his personality, he certainly wasn't used to any woman braving to talk to him that way, let alone wanting to purposely make any sort of physical contact. And for the most part he didn't care for them to do so anyway. He couldn't say he had a type, but most of the eligible women in Paris didn't fall into it. Partly because they were women, and partly because they were much too common, even in the middle of a bloody revolution that had most citizens sleeping with one eye open.
However, it wasn't a conversation he was interesting in continuing at that moment. He barely had a proper response for her, as he was hardly a proper person in the first place. But for all he knew, it could've been another attempt just to annoy him. If not that, then certainly their minds weren't exactly on the same track. So, he decided not to take what she was saying to heart.
He placed his hands firmly on her shoulders, moving her away from his side a bit. "Careful. That's not really a proper way for a lady to behave, is it?" Not that he was scolding her, and not that he even particularly cared. However, it seemed to be the best reply upon remembering their third party could return at any given time. He didn't need anyone getting the wrong idea of what was between them. Not with her. Amongst other reasons. "You don't need the wrong sort of men catching you acting indecently in public and becoming interested in you again."
