Where: Their apartment,
When: Early morning
Status: In progress
WARNINGS: mentions of suicidal tendencies/thoughts

Ben had set an alarm for the early hours of the morning, it was the only time that he was sure that everyone would be asleep (or recharging in mothers case), it was so early that even dad and Pogo would undoubtedly not notice when Ben snuck is monitoring device off of his head. He had done this three times now, each time either almost getting caught or chickening out, but this time he was determined to follow through. He wasn’t going to use his power ever again. He wasn’t meant to be a hero, not like everyone else was. He had hesitated on yesterday's mission, and their father had let him know how much of a danger he was when he wasn’t willing to follow orders.

It was clear that the only way that he wouldn’t be forced to use his powers was to not be on the team… and it was clear that their father was going to accept a letter of resignation. It seemed to Ben, the overly anxious and somewhat depressed teenager he was, that there was only one way that he could leave…

He took a knife from the kitchen at dinner last night, and he made his way up to the attic. It was a quiet spot, out of the way where he wouldn’t be interrupted. He made his way up the stairs, twisting the door and stepping through.

...Except he hadn’t stepped through the door to the attic. He was standing in a room he’d never seen before, that looked vaguely like the common areas of an apartment. There was a living room with couches and a tv, he could see an eating area just off a kitchen. This was definitely not any part of the house he’d ever seen.

He turned, to move back down the stairs to consider another spot, but when he turned back around, the open door that he’d walked through led back to a bedroom. A bedroom that was not his, nor was it a room he could remember seeing before (though there was a vague sense of familiarity there, in the back of his mind, not that he could place it). He began to panic, his blood rushing a bit to his ears, which made the horror inside him shift, as if ready to pounce.

Where was he? He went to adjust his grip on the knife, realizing only then that it wasn’t even in his hands anymore. He tightened his hands into a fist, raising them, just slightly as he moved more fully into the living area. “Mom?!” He called out, questioningly, “Mom?! Pogo?!”

When there was nothing in response, his chest tightened just slightly, as he made his way towards the first door he saw. “Mom! Pogo?! KLAUS?! Anyone?!”

Luther was an early riser in any circumstance, but even if he hadn't already been half awake, the sound of Ben’s panicked voice would have easily roused him. He got up and quickly pulled on a t-shit before padding out to the living area he shared with Allison, Ben and Babs in his bare feet.

“Ben?” he asked incredulously, not so much surprised to find his brother standing there as he was to find that he was much younger than he'd been yesterday. “What the hell?” As far as he knew, it wasn't common for people to de-age a decade or more overnight, but there was Ben looking every bit like a teenager.

Well. This guy was huge. Ben frowned and took a steadying breath. He raised his first, and the horror inside of him seemed to roll just under his skin which only made Ben want to step away from the man.

"Who are you?" He eyed the man. The man who knew his name and apparently lived in this space that Ben had somehow intruded on. "How do you know who I am?" Was this a test? Had his father been watching him this whole time to teach him a lesson? It seemed unlikely, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Still, his arms raised for a fight, Ben continued to inch backwards… Where all of his training had told him to charge, Ben was more content to try and slip away.

There was an unmistakable hurt look on Luther’s face when Ben treated him like a stranger. There were years between them now, more than a decade by the looks of it and Luther knew he had changed, but it still stung, that Ben didn’t recognize him at all.

“Ben, it’s me,” he said, holding his hands up in what he hoped was a non threatening way. “It’s Luther. What happened? Did the Entity de-age you overnight?” It was half a joke, but that was also very clearly what had happened.

Ben just blinked a few times. Staring at the mans face, well, he looked like he imagined an adult Luther might, but was way broader around the shoulders and taller than he’d thought even possible. Still, Ben dropped his hands, but didn’t make a move to come closer.

“The entity?” Did dad create something new that he didn’t know about. “Luther, why are you so old?” It wasn’t meant to be a rude question, but Ben wasn’t quite sure what to make of the obvious age difference between himself and his brother-- one that had never been there before as they’d all been born at precisely the same time. He pulled his hoodie more tightly around himself, crossing his arms over himself. “What’s going on?”
