I just performed first aid on a man who was a bipedal kimono dragon wearing a kimono.

See, I totally get it that this city has its quirks and isn't exactly normal, but really?

Really? I don't suppose you're seen a Crumple-horned Snorkack?

I'm not sure I'd know one if I saw it, honestly. For all I know, my partner might be one - I can't really describe what else he might be. At least he can still drive the ambulance okay, and that's all that really matters.

They have horns sort of like rhinos. They can be blue or purple but I don't think any other colour.

I'm glad your partner can drive. My friend at the cafe has fins and she has trouble carrying trays.

That depends on your definition of normal.

I have a pretty loose definition, but seeing something so drastic overtake such a massive city? That threw me for a bit of a loop.

I just fixed a broken beer cooler for someone who was basically a walking peacock right down to the feathers.

I'd hate to see that guy try and get in a car with any kind of ease.

I saw some dragons walking in the park earlier. We have dragons where I'm from but not like this.

I'm Harry.

Dragons too now? Like the kind from old faerie-tale dragons? I should be surprised, but I did see that one of my usual coffee haunts has turned into "Dragon's Own Brew" and the usual painting of the owner is now a big dragon holding a tiny little coffee cup...

I'm Peter. Is this as big a surprise for you as it is for me? Or are you used to seeing strange and unusual things?

I guess the faerie-tale dragons were based on the ones we have in the Wizarding World. Luckily the ones here don't seem to breathe fire.

Though breathing fire could probably warm up the coffee?

Hi Peter. Yes and no. I just didn't expect to see this where New York is like the backdrop, you know?

The most interesting part of this transformation is that they don't seem to think anything has changed about themselves.

Yeah, that is really weird. I mean, I tried talking to my partner about it, but he didn't seem to notice that he now has four ears, six eyes, and scales every color of the rainbow and then some. When I tried bringing it up, he just asked if I was feeling okay and checked my eyes for dilation and drugs.

At least now I'm certain I'm not on drugs and that everyone else is seeing strange things too.

I haven't spoken with any of the transformed residents since the realms began to collide, but the ones I recognised from before it occurred reacted no differently to each others' bizarre appearances, nor did they seem to react to me any differently.

A kilt too? Now there's some pattern clashing. I wonder if it was his clan tartan or if he was just felt like making a statement.

Does that in any way explain the fact that there was a group of angler fish singing Van Halen on the subway this morning?

... how did they sound? Like bad fans, or like angler fish?

So even if they look very strange, they react 'normally' to your medical care?

Sort of. I mean, one patient was literally made of wood, so I had to fix his broken leg with wood glue. It makes some kind of bizarre sense, in its own way, but I'm really dreading when I come across something that doesn't even make crazy, faerie-world sense.
