So, NaNoWriMo 2009 is officially over! I won once again, which means my record is perfect. :) This year's story kind of got away from me as I didn't have a plan going into it, and I never did figure out exactly what the story was I was supposed to be writing. The last couple of days of writing was mostly rambling, and though I will get a Create Space code for a free proof copy, I think I'm going to use it for my novel from last year, as I never got around to redeeming the code before June because of a bunch of unanswered questions that were magically answered before NaNo started this year. :D I managed to write on my novel every single day this month, which makes me insanely happy, and I'm hoping I'm able to keep up the habit, as this is the first time I've attempted to establish a writing habit, and actually stuck with it. I'm kind of glad NaNo is over though, so I can focus on the rest of the semester and trying to keep my grades in the B range in order to keep my scholarship and remain on the Dean's List. Speaking of school, I'm glad I have less than three weeks (well, more like 2 and a 1/2) left in this semester, as I've been pushed and shoved all over the place with the family issues I've been dealing with and struggling to figure out exactly how to get a good grade in half of my classes, whether it was because of not knowing how to really study for the material or not knowing what was expected of me from the professor. Even though I'm taking 20 credits next semester, I'll be happy to get it started, as the schedule I have is much more agreeable to me, and I'll have a buddy in at least two of my classes for sure. Plus, except for one class, I'm in all Accounting or Finance classes, which should help with learning the material and having it stick. |

People do not teach their children boundaries these days. For example, by the time I seven or eight I knew not to go crawl up in the bushes in front my neighbor's house, peek into the window, and make scratching noises and hiss at the cat in the window. The little shits in my neighborhood, however, can't seem to grasp the concept that doing that is wrong. I'd go out there and give the little bastards a piece of my mind if I wasn't sick and in my pj's.
I guess I shouldn't have expected manners from the brats considering how, a year or so ago, they thought it would be fun to randomly open the front door and let the cats outside. It was unlocked because it was daylight and my dad and I were both home. That, of course, does not happen anymore; the front door is locked and/or barred at all times now. As it should be, honestly.
Maybe it's because the kids on the cul-de-sac I live in are mostly boys. (There are a few girls and I haven't had any problems with them.) I don't know. I do know that if it happens again, I'm going to scare the crap out of 'em. And if their parents say anything to me, well, I'll just tell them they should teach their kids not to peep into other people's windows. |

| Twilight =/= Crimial Minds. Really. |
[Nov. 30th, 2009|06:20 am] |
As seen in a Morgan/Reid comm...
...because I'm a little obsessed with New Moon at the moment...
Then, honestly, go look for Twilight comms. Because Reid doesn't even know what Twilight is (a canon fact that I heart totally) and I'd prefer to keep it that way. |

* Hope all who celebrate Thanksgiving had a wonderful time spent with family and friends.
* The Girl Child went to the Black Friday sales this morning. At 4:49, while I was doing some serious sleeping, she texted. Scared me to death. Why did she text at that unholy hour, you ask... because she spotted John Travolta at the mall. Jesus. She's a freak.
* The Boy Child had to work today - so no shopping for him. Instead, he gave the Girl a list and his debit card. He gave his sister his fucking debit card. When she was going to a mall. The boy is an idiot. Honestly.
* It's chilly here in the Sunshine State tonight. Lovely thing, that. Right along with the Criminal Minds marathon on A&E.
* And, on a Criminal Minds note, this week's episode killed me. Dead. *pets the CM team* |

So, it's been awhile since I last updated. School has been piling up all over the place, but now that I've gotten two more exams out of the way and have actually started my Management term paper that's due in a couple of weeks, I'm feeling a little better about every thing I have to do. NaNo's been going pretty well considering things, though over the weekend I fell a little behind on my personal goals, as I was at Camp Brethren Heights with the Standing the Gap people for a Bible Retreat. I had a pretty decent time, but as I was stuck with 20-25 other people in a building that consisted of the two separate rooms for sleeping, the dining/game area and the rec room where we had all of our worship and lessons, I felt a little smothered, as I need my alone time on things like that, and on top of only having 4ish hours of scheduled personal/free time (everything else was doing something with the group), I felt like any time I sneaked away for a quiet moment, there was always someone already in the area I was retreating to, or it didn't take long for someone else to join me. Other than that, it was nice, and I did learn a lot about living the 'abundant life'. We're supposed to go over to my aunt's for Thanksgiving tomorrow, and I'm kind of looking forward to it, as it seems like all I do any more is job hunt/go on interviews, go to school and do homework, which really sucks. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if I had a more normal schedule, but because I'm taking 20 credits next semester and will have to take 4 classes May-June, I'm guessing it will have to wait until later this summer or next fall altogether. I'm glad I can squeeze the rest of my schooling into the time I have between now and May 2011, as it should cut down how much I'll have to pay back on loans, and it frees me up a year sooner than I anticipated to possibly move to an area where the job market is a little better, and prepare for graduate school without having to pay out-of-state tuition in order to go. :) ( Notes from Living the Abundant Life lessons, feel free to skip ) |

| Um, WTF? |

HPFandom.net... account suspended... any information to be had?
Per darlinggirl1263 on LJ: The account was suspended for "excessive CPU usage". The mod is working to get things back up and running. We'll just have to wait it out.
ETA: Had a couple of people asking for an older fic - meaning the ones I have not tagged here on IJ yet - so, I figured I'd just link you my LJ tags.
Jesus. I gotta make myself get those old tags done. I mean, it has only been two and one-half years, right? *hates that kind of stuff* |

| Vanilla and Kinky and Lifestyle! Oh, my! |
[Nov. 23rd, 2009|12:08 pm] |
To be honest, I hadn't intended on posting anymore about BDSM. Not outside of fic, anyway. But someone asked the difference between kinky sex and Lifestyle. And the answers to this are endless. Especially if you try to use nothing but serious, technical type jargon.
Good thing we all know I'm not so great with sticking to the technical, huh?
So, let's look at this like a bowl of ice cream. ( Because, really, who doesn't like ice cream? ) |

| Six Impossible Things (Seth’s Morning List Remix) [The O.C., Seth/Ryan, 100 Words, PG-13] |
[Nov. 22nd, 2009|02:31 am] |
1. Only sesame seed bagels left, and no cream cheese. My life, ladies and gentlemen.
2. Ate a bowl of Oreos for breakfast.
3. There’s a coffee ring stain on my X-men. I know I accidentally burned down Dad’s office, but a man’s comics are sacred.
4. Ryan kissed me to shut me up. Twice. (!!!)
5. Did a Samuel L. Jackson impression under my breath. Was sharing my bucket of popcorn, extra butter, with Ryan, when our shoulders bumped together. It was nice; not Summer-in-a-Wonder-Woman-outfit nice, but getting there.
6. Make out Share kisses with Ryan at the poolhouse.
Remix of theswearingkind's Sam Jackson Ain't Got Nothing on These Two (f-locked) for remixthedrabble. I haven't actually watched the episode on which #3 is based. One day I'll probably finish watching the O.C. Maybe. If only for more of Seth Cohen's wordvomit.

| Hi! My name is Minxie… |
[Nov. 20th, 2009|12:24 pm] |
…and I'm a submissive. As in, a contracted and collared sub to my husband, Matt. D/s, BDSM, leather, lifestyle, call it what you will. It is what it is.
Originally, I intended to post something like an introduction because, as my fandoms branch out, there are new people on my flist. And I tend to be loud and opinionated when it comes to head exploding kink fics. Figured offering some insight to me might help explain the tangent rants I sometimes have. Along with the fact that most, if not all, of my fics have some display of power dynamics, no matter how subtle.
I'm sure those of you who know me best find that to be an understatement. Heh.
This has morphed, through conversations with friends, into not only a hey, this is me post, but also one that, for lack of tact on my part, is a whoa! let's think about this before you write it post. Mainly because BDSM comes under enough fire without having misleading works of fiction floating around out there stirring up more trouble than they're worth.
And, honestly, not trying to be a bitch, but if a piece of fiction disregards the basic principles of safe, sane, and consensual they really are more trouble than they're worth. They set a stage for others, those not in the scene, that can lead to misunderstandings, arguments, and, most important, serious injury.
Not cool.
Not when it takes just a few lines of dialogue, or even implied conversation to lend believability and credibility to the work.
To that end, I've started a list. ( Which is actually quite funny seeing as I despise lists. )
Got questions? Ask 'em. I'd rather you ask me something embarrassing than you make my head go splodey in the next fic I run across.

Whoa! Additional Lifestyle discussions taking place...
irana is talking about consent, SSC, and RACK. You can read that post here.

Watching an old Las Vegas rerun and, low and behold, Hal Sparks is guesting on the episode. As a relationship adviser.
Oh, Michael!
