Who: Cameron Michaels and OPEN TO ANY AND ALL!
What:
yoga lesson/prison meet and greet
Where: in the prison gym
When: anyday, late afternoon
Rating: TBD
Status: incomplete without YOU

The prison gym was just as dreary as the rest of the facility, but Cameron thought she'd done a nice job of transforming it for her first yoga class. A little new-age music and a few aromatherapy candles went a long way toward creating a soothing atmosphere! She'd also provided the mats, assuming the typical Snyderville resident probably didn't have much in the way of yoga equipment. Now all she needed were the students!

True to his word, Bailey had painted a bright, eye-catching advertisement and sign-up sheet for Cameron's yoga lessons. He'd even signed up himself! Cameron beamed at her friend, grateful for the moral support. The rest of the class should be arriving any minute now.

Agnes had seen the advertisement and decided that she could use a little stress relief. Besides, who could argue with glitter? Forsaking her usual embellished sweater and leggings combo for a bedazzled leotard and yoga pants, she arrived in the gym clutching a water bottle and a towel and looking ready for a serious workout.

Glancing around, she saw that she was a bit early. Perfect! Agnes claimed a mat toward the back of the room. Lowering herself to the floor with a faint grunt of effort, she began a half-hearted series of stretches while waiting for the rest of the class to arrive.

Bailey was already well into his preparatory stretches, and was standing on one bare foot when Cameron's first student arrived. He waved at Agnes, giving her a contented smile, already relaxed as he was by the aromatherapy and soothing atmosphere.

"I like your outfit," he complimented enthusiastically, without a hint of irony. He had enough moral support for everyone today.

"Hel-loo, Miss-ter Hirrssch-Car-rooll," Agnes over-enunciated, waving back at her former student.

Funny. In fifteen years of teaching high school there were plenty of kids
she'd pictured ending up in jail. The Hirsch-Carroll boy had certainly never been one of them, and yet here they both were, behind bars.

"Why, thank you-oo! I-ee did the rhine-stoone mon-ooh-gram myself."

Bailey resisted the urge to make a face at her over-enunciation - despite the fact that he was used to that sort of thing, especially from this particular former teacher, it was still terribly annoying. And (probably unintentionally, Bailey decided generously) belittling. Whatever his feelings on the subject, however, Bailey chose not to show them, continuing on as though he wasn't cringing inwardly.

"Oh, that's lovely!" Bailey said pleasantly. "Perhaps you could badoozle a sweatband and matching wristbands to go with it?"

Agnes gave the idea serious consideration as she stretched her fingertips toward her toes.

"In the same color, do you think, or contrasting?" she asked, forgetting to chew her vowels in the novelty of having a serious discussion of fashion with a male--and a young male, at that. Maybe Hirsch-Carroll was gay?

It would figure. The cute ones always were.

Bailey paused, not really knowing how to answer that. Being nice to people shouldn't be work, he thought wearily.

"Ummm.... contrasting? Contrasting would make them stand out and uh... accent your eyes." he said finally, hoping that answer was good enough. His eyes darted to Cameron, then to the door, hoping for some excuse to ditch the topic of workout fashion.

Accent her eyes? That was laying it on a bit thick, even for Agnes. She eyed Hirsch-Carroll narrowly for a second, finally nodding politely when there was no mockery apparent in his expression.

"I-ee just mi-ight." With that Agnes went back to trying to touch her toes.

Bailey breathed a sigh of relief, then scurried over to where Cameron was readying herself.

"I think I'll go check the halls in case anyone got lost, yeah?" he asked, gesturing towards the open door.

Rémy could think of a hundred and one reasons not to attend the yoga class:

1) He probably wouldn't be any good at it anyways, which would
2) cause him to make an ass of himself in front of everyone including
3) Cameron, who he liked so much that he'd been avoiding at all costs lately, contrary to all emotion and logic

The list went on and on. Despite all this, however, he could think of one very good reason for at least making a brief appearance, and that was

1) Very special hippie chick, who just happened to make his stomach tie itself into pretzel knots and his heart to contort itself into all sorts of compromising positions. It was a feeling he both loved and hated and had no control of whatsoever. Ah, the ups and downs of lovesickness.

He peeked shyly into the room like a mouse peering into a den of lions, ducking past Cameron's tattooed friend as he exited. Rémy lurked his way to the back of the class, where he sat on a mat as far away as possible from Agnes and rested his head on his hand. He gave Cameron an unintentionally goofy smile before realising what he was doing and covered his mouth, looking abashed but still in good spirits. He wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to be doing in a class like this, but it probably wasn't making googly eyes at the instructor. The sparkly lady appeared to be doing stretches of some kind, but she made them look rather painful, so Rémy opted not to follow her lead and sit doing nothing instead.

What now? he thought. He decided to focus his efforts on not making any more stupid expressions, waiting to see what Cameron's instructions would be.

Cameron was giving the back of Bailey's head a helpless look as he exited, not really wanting to be left alone with the creepy high school science teacher. Seeing Rémy enter, she smiled brightly and waved.

"Well, I guess we ought to get started with some stretches. If anyone is running a little late they can just join right in," she said at last, with more confidence than she actually felt.

"Pelvic tilts are really great for relieving lower back pain!" Cameron laid down on her mat with her knees bent and demonstrated the stretch for her class of two.

"Er, you want to be a little less, um, violent, Agnes. It's a gentle stretch... Okay! Next, let's try the downward dog!"

Rémy watched curiously, not really sure what kind of stretching Cameron was referring to. Keeping his eyes on her as she instructed, Rémy laid down on his own mat and watched as she demonstrated pelvic tilting. As awkward as this was to watch, he felt even more awkard about doing the move himself. And then once he realised he was thinking suggestive thoughts about a perfectly innocent stretching routine, he felt even more guilty. All of this contributed to his not attempting the hip thrusting at all. He merely watched with a bemused expression until she began demonstrating the next step in her workout routine, upon which his eyes widened even more. He was hardly able from keeping his mouth from falling open a little.

"I forgot my yoga clothes," he said quietly to no-one in particular, continuing to lie there without any attempts at stretches, gentle or otherwise.

It wasn't good enough that she was minding her business. She hadn't done anything particularly awful in at least two days, and she wasn't even sure that incident in town counted. She hadn't really left that person to die. She just let them think that for a few seconds before shooting them free of zombie threats. Karma had no reason to deduct points for that!

And yet...

There she was, walking innocently, a bit of lazy strolling to keep from going stir crazy and shooting the place up. Out came Bailey. Maybe she smiled. She felt she had cause to when he grabbed her wrist.

It wasn't a 'Hi, Let's Wear Yoga Pants' kind of smile either. If somebody needed her smile explained, clearly they'd never slept with an individual and met up sans awkwardness. She liked 'I've Seen You Naked' smiles. They were fun.

But yoga? Really?

Bailey, as usual, didn't see anything odd about this. He'd left looking for more people to bring to Cameron's yoga lessons, Maddy was a person, therefore he brought Maddy to Cameron's yoga lessons. The fact that he'd seen Maddy naked simply didn't factor into his hippie equations.

"This is great for relaxing. You'll love it," he explained as he led her into the room.

And with these words, Bailey let go of Maddy's wrist and sauntered back to his own yoga mat at the front of the room, where he resumed following along with Cameron's instructions as though he'd never even left.

Upon seeing that the tattooed hippie and his female cellblockmate had made their grand entrance, Rémy decided that this was probably a good time to make his escape. He pried himself up off the mat and gave Cameron a feeble, apologetic smile.

"My joints are acting up. Thank-you for the lessons!" he said quickly, then hurried from his spot towards the door. He paused briefly in the doorway, bidding farewell with a mousy wave.

"I'll see you later, maybe... ?" he added, then turned and scampered away to think of better ways to impress his adored.

It was like the prison gym had a revolving door. Cameron quickly recovered her composure and waved goodbye to Rémy.

"I'll bring you some dandelion tea... Later!" she called after him. This was supposed to be a casual class, right? No pressure. Cameron decided that since she was the instructor she could stop and chit-chat if she wanted to. Unfortunately Rémy was already long gone.

But it seemed Bailey had had some luck while he was out roaming the halls. Cameron beamed at Maddy.

"Hi!" she said enthusiastically. Maddy, at least, would not be scared off by creepy Agnes, huffing and puffing over there in the corner. At least, Cameron hoped not.

"Okay, everybody, now that we're getting warmed up, let's salute the sun!"

Enthusiasm was fine. Really, it was. She'd managed a good chunk of high school as a cheerleader, so Madison knew that enthusiasm could, in fact, work, even for someone as inclined towards violence as she was. As a result of this conclusion, she didn't actually want to punch Cameron in the face when she so cheerfully greeted her.

Hell, her anger didn't even really turn to Cameron. First it swept to Bailey, who just trotted over to a yoga mat and turned his butt to the sky like he hadn't just kidnapped her, and then, sadly, it moved to Remy. Clearly it was his fault she was here; if she was his replacement, the man was in for it later. That's how Maddy's mind worked.

She spied an empty mat, but catching a glimpse of an old teacher, one who had never liked her, not even a bit, was a new level of distracting.

Madison only knew of one way to salute anything, and she doubted a single-finger salute was what the sun wanted. This was ridiculous. And it was fucking weird. She ended up sitting down on a mat, shaking her head slowly. Somebody was going to die soon, but some misguided sense of politeness at least kept her from storming out immediately.

Really, wasn't it against some hippie creed to trick people into yoga?

Agnes had decided that yoga was not for her. Stretching and flailing and groveling around on the floor was not relaxing. She gathered up her towel and heaved herself to her feet.

She could have spent this time petitioning the warden--yet again--for a conjugal visit with Cookie.

Speaking of Cookie... There was the man's daughter. Awkward. And she'd never liked the girl, Agnes recalled. Not even a little bit. She gave Madison Avery a dirty look as she passed her on the way out the door.

Bailey didn't notice Maddy's obvious distaste. He didn't notice Agnes leave, either. He was so focused on his sun salutations and inner peace that he failed to notice anything but.

He let out a relaxed sigh, opening his eyes again as he returned to a standing position.

Bailey looked to Cameron, giving her an approving smile, then turned to Maddy. See? he signed at her, as though he'd effectively proven his point.

Eyebrows shot up. Eyes widened a bit. See? See? Was he serious?

Despite all history of exercise, cheerleading and otherwise, Maddy didn't actually enjoy any of it. She didn't gain a deep sense of peace as a result of some odd bending. At least not when full clothing was involved. And it was, since stretchy yoga clothes didn't count as a state of undress.

She narrowly avoided rolling her eyes at Bailey, astounded that, even though she was sitting flat on her ass with no signs of actually participating, he thought he'd shown her something. Made a point. She gave him a quick Uh huh laced with skepticism she guessed he wouldn't catch, then pointed at Cameron. The girl was doing something. Looked stretchy and important.

When eyes were off her, she kind of smiled, maybe at the strangeness of the situation, maybe just because Bailey was a dork. Either way, she still wasn't doing yoga.

Cameron couldn't decide whether to be relieved or annoyed that Agnes was leaving too. In hindsight, she probably should have known better than to hope that Snyderville would embrace yoga. The only one who really seemed to be enjoying himself was Bailey, and that was to be expected!

She gave her friend a tight smile. Really, she was grateful for Bailey's support, but did he have to drag Maddy in here so they could sign at one another behind her back?

Cameron felt guilty for even thinking such a thing. It was nice that Bailey had another friend to talk to.

"This pose opens the chakras and cleanses the internal organs," she informed Maddy brightly, with a smile no less strained than the one she'd aimed at Bailey.

Bailey looked rather disappointed that Maddy seemed to be intent on not even trying to enjoy herself. His smile flickered away and he let out an audible sigh - probably a much more audible one than he might have let loose had he realised the entire room was able to hear it.

He didn't even resist rolling his eyes as he looked away. Why did people have to be so stubborn? Didn't they realise these new age therapies and suchlike were meant to help them?

People. Honestly.

Bailey turned away from Maddy and smiled encouragingly at Cameron instead.
