Who: Sophia Fawcett and Wayne Hopkins
When: Wednesday, Four PM
Where: Carrow Estate
What: Meeting. Face to face.
Rating: Low, I'd imagine.
Status: Incomplete

Sophia dressed carefully for work that morning. She knew how important it was to impress Miss Carrow should she happen to be home. Sophia didn't want to do anything to jepordize her meeting with Wayne. After work, Sophia stopped in the loo to brush her hair once more and straighten her clothes before apparating to the Carrow Estate. The wards allowed her in, as promised and Sophia was escorted through the house by a house elf.

She didn't know what to expect, really. They had spoken through a wall before, but this was different. Knocking on the door to his room, Sophia shifted nervously on her feet. "Wayne? It's Sophia..."

It was one of those times of the day where Wayne had run out of work and simply had to entertain himself. The hours were not regular and he was expected to show some initiative, which he was only to happy to do when it concerned the garden, for example. But at times he wasn't sure what he was supposed to be doing. Having been informed that Sophia would be coming, Wayne went to wait in his room and amuse himself there. He was attempting to write a poem about strawberries when she knocked. He jumped off the bed in excitement at getting to see somebody who wasn't a Death Eater or a servant scared to be seen associating with him, and threw open the door. Sophia stood there looking very neat and tidy. Wayne had wanted to hug her but suddenly felt very self-conscious of his clean but hardly smart appearance.

"Hi," he said shyly, not knowing what else to say.

Sophia, on the other hand, was so grateful to have finally come face to face with Wayne that she threw her arms around him in the biggest hug possible. "Hi! I didn't think I was ever going to really meet you!" She felt so happy meeting him. Like he was a long lost friend she hadn't seen in years.

Wayne was slightly startled but recovered himself sufficiently to return the hug. He was grateful she'd made the first move to, though. Once, in Azkaban, they had been in the same boat. Now their statuses in society were miles apart, as far as he could see. The hug felt like an equalizer of sorts.

"Me neither," he replied, and then added, with a grin. "You're warmer than the wall was."

Pulling back, Sophia was all smiles. "I should hope so. Those walls were rather chilly." Hugging him again, just for good measure, Sophia finally released Wayne.

"I thought Miss Carrow was going to say no. I don't have much time, but at least you have company, right?"

"Yes," he replied with a broad smile. "Thank you. I appreciate it. I know you didn't have to and it's a risk associating with slaves in case they think you're going back to your old ways or something. Was she very difficult? She can..."

Wayne trailed off, not wanting to insult his mistress, but having trouble thinking of a nice way to put it. "She doesn't always follow social conventions exactly," he said, squirming slightly. She was rude, and harsh, and he knew if he was less agreeable and obedient to compensate he would have fared a lot worse in the Carrow household.

Sophia gave him an understanding smile. She knew how hard it could be to say what was expected of you when, really, you hated everyone around you and wanted to tell the world to bugger off.

Looking around the room, Sophia felt terrible for Wayne. Even though she no longer lived with Draco, she had a lovely room and everything she could hope for. It didn't seem as though Wayne was treated nearly as well as she had been. Sitting down on the edge of his bed, Sophia patted the space next to her.

"Oh! I brought you something. I don't know if it's allowed, but I hope you don't get into too much trouble." From the pocket of her skirt, Sophia withdrew a small paperbook book of poetry focusing on summer.
