Happy Daft Day, [info]rakina!
Recipient: [info]rakina
Title: One for the birds, two for the wolves
Artist: Nele ([info]fanficforensics)
Rating: PG-13 for a tiny bit of gore
Warning: Blood, but not Harry's or Snape's.
A/N: Illustration for the opening scene of 'Into The Green'. The moment -the very incoherent and drawn-out moment, in this piece- when the flying you-know-what gets its talons into you-know-who, causing lots of flying blood and shocking our heroes.
Hope you like it, Rakina! I discovered a fetish for Harry's big baggy Dudley shirts while drawing this. They're like drapery. Pull down the collar of a regular t-shirt and you see, well, collarbones. Pull down the collar of a Dudley t-shirt and there's nipples! Though not this time, I tried in the last panel but nipples didn't much help the dramatic atmosphere. Alas.

One for the Birds 1

wow! Amazing! I think the picture I like best is the middle one, there is something so vulnerable about Harry's bare torso, the way his face is turned away showing us the line of his jaw and Snape's hand grasping Harry's wrist, forceful yet protective.

It had the added benefit of sending me off to re-read Rakina's wonderful story.

*hugs*

Lucie x

Oh, that's amazing, Nele. Such a brilliant, captivating glimpse of a moment (several moments) in the fic.
In a way this scene is just the beginning of their troubles, but you've made it seem like a culmination, an ending.
I'm not being a very coherent commenter here, rather like the incoherency of the scene itself, LOL.
I've not come across your art much before, and I've obviously missed out, a lot.
I love your style; it takes me by the eyeballs and stops me. No clicking on for a good long while, and some incoherent babbling for a comment, which I think tells you how successful you've been in what you set out to do here.
I'm hugely grateful to you, and one very happy Daft Day recipient!
x Rakina

So glad you like it! Sorry for the incoherence of it all, there was so much I wanted to show and just not enough room. Nothing much missed out, RL drew me away from drawing ages before I fell into the Snarry trap and this is the first pic I've actually finished in about four years. So thank you for the inspiring story ;) I'd actually started doodling a scene from 'Janus Nonogenus' after I got your prompt, because I'd known and loved that story for a long while, but then I happened to read 'Into the green' and the opening scene just blew me away.

ps... (slightly more coherent, LOL)
I'd love to see the results of the baggy shirt fetish!

Thank you! Please read the story if you haven't already, because it's great and the scene doesn't actually make a whiff of sense without it ;)

Oh, that was amazing. The blood stands out so much more as the panels are in black and white. Very powerful imagery.

Most excellent work! I love the stark contrast of the blood with the black and white. It also sent me off to re-read the story, lol. Well done!~Sophia

Wow. I love the hints of color-the blood as well as Harry's eyes. The multiple panels are very effective as well-I just love the close up bits of Snape's face. Well done.

I had to go read the story, which I somehow had missed, then come back to the art. Now I understand. Excellent depiction of a high stress scene.

Yowza, that's AMAZING! I love the sense of shock that's there in the last panel; Harry still hasn't come to understand where the blood's coming from, it looks like. Gorgeous!
