Glad you gave it a look, even if it was AU! I'm glad you brought up the hypocrisy in the thinking of the people in power - I feel like this thinking happens a lot with laws banning certain sexual practices, and those beliefs are so deep seated in some that there's no reasoning with them.
I did want Harry's beating to seem severe, but I know that puts some people off of stories entirely, so I'm glad that didn't ruin things for you. Draco's part in this story is ultimately more tragic than either Snape or Harry's - he had gone out on a limb to grab hold of the life (and man) he wanted, and they were all taken from him. I imagined he'd feel somewhat responsible too for what happened between Harry and Lucius too, even while Harry was feeling responsible for giving up the fact that Draco was in a gay relationship. As to whether or not Lucius was aware of that fact before he spoke with Harry, the way it happened in my mind was that Voldemort was suspicious of Severus, wanted to get close to Harry to see if he could find out anything, so had Lucius get hair from Draco to make the PJ potion. In my mind, Lucius would have announced his visit (though not the purpose), so Draco would have time to prepare for his visit and been able to hide his relationship. Hope that makes things clearer =)
Thanks so much for the sweet and thorough comment!
