*Beams*Gushes*
Thank you, thank you very much, Mystery Author/Artist! I really enjoyed this story. I read it, laughing and sighing happily at various parts, and I had to wait before replying so I wouldn't be incoherent.
I adored the opening with Severus in the afterlife with James, Sirius, Remus and Lily. The interaction between the two former best friends was touching and intriguing, and I admit that I had to stop myself from speed reading through the story to see what Lily told Severus. I'm glad I did.
Poor Harry. What a realistic take on his life after Voldemort. Disillusioned, aimless, and restless, he's holed up in Grimmauld pondering the meaning of his life. I could see that happening to him, and I love it. It makes me like your characterization of him even more.
Severus was enjoyable as well. He comes back to a world of pain and hides away, wondering why he had to be back. I love him picking his own ingredients and complaining about being too old to do it. I loved him carefully moving across the rocks and lamenting the fact that he was not as dignified as he wanted to be.
Harry swooning like a damsel in distress was awesome, as was Snape's comment about his smell. I laughed aloud at it. The two of them falling into some semblance of a relationship was great as well. Severus trying to sneak out of bed without waking Harry was my favorite scene. No sex was necessary--it would not have fit into this wonderful story.
And after I finished my absolutely perfect story gift, I find wonderful art. A gorgeous picture of two weary, lonely men who have found a match in each other. Their beard stubble was a nice touch.
I loved everything about my gift, so thank you very much, Mystery Person!
