Artist's Notes: Merry Snarry Holidays, Midnight_Birth. I enjoyed making this for you! For a while,I puzzled over how work in the Giant Squid. Finally it occurred to me that they would all enjoy a nice holiday together. The under-the-lake dungeons with starry ceiling are inspired by Alchemia Dent & Bugland's A Bittersweet Potion, which you can find here.

	Ah, I love the way you incorporated the Giant Squid! For a moment I thought,"Hey, they have the Squid's portrait in their bedroom!" Then I realized, of course, it's a view from under the lake, and the Squid is waving a friendly tentacle to say Happy Christmas (and perhaps, "Thanks for the show!"?). Very sweet and fun all at once. 	I love the relaxed and happy holiday atmosphere in this. Their faces are so brilliantly expressive. Severus looks exactly like you say in the summary, and Harry’s almost purring. The laughing snakes on the bedposts are adorable while the Squid seems, quite understandably, mesmerized by the sight. Wonderful work! (Reply to this)

So I saw the master-list go up today, and thought, Wait, that means the fest is over and the gift for me must have already been posted. And here it is. I'm so so so sorry I missed it! I've been frantic and hectic lately, and I feel terrible!

Let me write my review before I run over and see who you are.

First of all, let me tell you how much I absolutely adore it!! I am a big sucker for art, but I like fic too, so I always put no preference, which usually means I get fic due to the lower numbers of artists. But I got art!! :D And it's so amazing!!

I adore Snape's serene and affectionate face expression. It's such a rare sight, but you pulled it off perfectly! You can still see the bits of severity in his face that I always imagined is forever engraved there, but just... I can't even describe what his facial expression evokes. Sadness among all the other things make it real. I love his arm around Harry - it's protective but seems to touch ever-so-lightly!

Your Harry is perfect! The content look on his face, the way he's snuggling up to Snape and the way his head is on his chest... There is just so much contrast between the two of them. You can see how much older Snape is, and how much more he's seen, and the innocence and complete happiness is endearing and, once again, almost poignant!

One thing that I squeed over for a long time was the Giant Squid! Oh Merlin I swear I had no idea anybody would ever take me up on that (people rarely do :P), which is totally understandable because it's a ridiculous side of me shining through, but you did! I'm sorry it gave you a pause, but how awesome is that multi-legged pervert?? The way he's looking at them as if he wants some too, the way he's waving his tentacles... I must say, I giggled for a long time!

And last but not least - the details. I am a huge stickler for little details, and your art was just full of it! The adorable snakes on the bedframe, the stars, the underwater screen, the many pillows all imprinted in just the right ways and, of course, the holiday lights! What a delightful little detail to give the picture an amazing Christmas-y feel.

I bow to you, mystery artist!! You made my day completely. And I must say, your art style does look familiar. ;)

	beams I was afraid you didn't like it. I get the hectic thing, really, and I am so glad you like all the little elements. You might also like to know, I drew the initial sketch for this in the MOMA in NY, when I was up there to see DanRad in Equus. I sat in front of Rothko paintings and drew fluffy Snarry! big squoobley hugs and Merry Snarry Hols. (Reply to this) (Parent)
