Summary: Harry knows Sirius and his parents will always watch over him.
“That is Sirius,” Harry told Snape, pointing up into the clear night sky.
Snape grunted in acknowledgement. “The dog star, part of Canis Major, I believe. I’m sure that will mean something to you despite your poor grasp of irony.”
Harry poked him in the side. “I knew you knew which one it was! You’re just being stubborn again, aren’t you?”
“Do not deprive me of this, Harry,” Snape said. “After all, watching you fumble through an astronomy lesson with someone who learned it all years before you is one of the greatest pleasures I have.”
Harry rolled onto his side to look suspiciously at his lover. “Does this mean you knew when the full moon rose too?”
Snape snorted through his considerable nose. “Have you forgotten that I have been supplying Lupin with the Wolfsbane for the last three years? Of course I knew!”
Harry flopped down on his back again with a look of mock despair on his face. “Why did I ever decide to shack up with you?” he moaned in theatrical horror.
“Because the sex is great,” Snape lazily replied. Harry thumped him, but Snape just tugged him back down onto the cool grass. Harry stared up at the glittering star twinkling high above them. “Do you think he’s looking down on us now?”
“Oh, I have no doubt,” Snape replied dryly. “Your godfather was a terrible voyeur even in life.”
“Shove over, Jamie, I can’t see,” Sirius grumbled as he pushed his way to the window of the silver room. “Why does this place have to glitter so much anyway? It’s giving me a headache.”
“Don’t ask me,” James Potter replied, moving over to give his friend some room. “This is your star. Why did you say ‘yes’ when they asked if you wanted to be a star?”
“I thought they meant a rock star. I thought it was an offer of reincarnation or something. The artist formerly known as Black or something.” Sirius ignored James’ muffled laughter, staring up at the ceiling of the star room with a glazed expression on his handsome face. The ceiling gave a couple more aggressive twinkles, and Sirius dropped his gaze, rubbing his smarting, dazzled eyes. “They didn’t mention anything like this; for Merlin’s sake, I twinkle more than Dumbledore!” James stifled another snigger. “Stop laughing, git,” Sirius snapped. “Now what is Snape doing to my godson?”
“Now there’s a thought,” James said, ignoring Sirius completely. “If anything, Snape should be the artist formerly known as Prince. It would be true, for starters. It’s never good to change a famous name, Sirius. People tend to think you’re being stupid. We’d need a different rock star persona for you. How about Padfoot, or The People’s Pooch? You could start a band!”
“Stop being stupid,” Sirius sighed. “I could do without this sort of criticism, you know. Being dead isn’t easy!”
“I know it isn’t, idiot. I’ve been dead fifteen years longer than you, so stop whinging.”
“Fine, fine,” Sirius grumbled. “Now will you pay attention. What is Snape doing to Harry?”
James peered over his shoulder at last and turned green. “Undressing him,” he said, looking slightly sick. “And doing things beyond the limits of decency. There are things you don’t want to know about your kids.”
“I thought it was just kids not wanting to know about their parents,” Sirius mused. “Like that time we walked in on your Mum and Dad…”
“Stop!” James yelped. “I’m leaving now. Lily said she’d meet me at home. You know you’re welcome to come if you get sick of the twinkling, don’t you?”
“Yep,” Sirius said distractedly, squinting down towards Hogwarts and the two small shapes lying in the grass. James sighed and left him to it.
Harry shivered, not just from cold as Severus’ long fingers parted the folds of his robe and pushed the light material over his shoulders to pool underneath him, shimmering blue and slippery as water. Harry worked busily to free Severus of his black robes, so much heavier than his own, even at the height of summer.
“How can you stand to wear so many layers when it’s this hot?” he asked, as his fingers struggled to undo the tiny buttons.
Severus pushed his hands away and undid the buttons himself with amazing speed and dexterity. “Because the only time I am really hot, you are always more than happy to rid me of them,” he teased. He let his robes fall behind him and pushed Harry down on the summer silk, crawling up his body to kiss him gently. Harry sighed as the warm weight settled over him, and just lay there, staring up at the night sky as Severus moved down his body, quick hands divesting him of his shirt.
Severus pressed a kiss to Harry’s bare shoulder and moved down to his feet, untying the laces of his trainers and slipping the black shoes from his feet. The socks followed and then the trousers, as Severus pulled down the zip carefully.
“Up,” Severus commanded. Harry lifted his hips obediently and Severus pulled down both trousers and boxers, leaving Harry naked and shivering on his robes.
Severus tossed the dark blue jeans to one side and leaned back over Harry, hands placed on either side of Harry’s head and nose mere inches from Harry’s own. Severus could just see Harry’s throat move as he swallowed nervously.
“Scared, Mr. Potter?” he murmured into Harry’s ear. Harry shivered.
“Not at all, Professor,” he replied. “Just really turned on”
Severus laughed. It was a surprising sound, deep and rumbling and unexpected from the normally stern Potions Master. “So forthright, my Harry,” he said. “Let’s see what else you will tell me tonight.” And with that promising comment, Severus proceeded to drive Harry wild with kisses and licks and small nips all over his skin until the young man was whimpering and begging beneath him.
“Please,” Harry groaned, tugging at Severus’ shirt. “Get rid of this. I want to feel you…” Severus sat back a moment to admire the slim body wriggling on the ground.
“Oh, you will feel me,” Severus assured him, hands rising to slip his shirt buttons from their holes. Harry just gazed up at him, drunk on pleasure, dilated eyes taking in every movement of the graceful hands and every patch of skin slowly revealed. His hands grabbed unconsciously at his greedy prick; Severus knocked his hands away with his spare hand.
“Don’t touch!” he told Harry sternly. “That’s for me.” Harry did not reply, but reached up feverishly, pulling Severus back down by the loose sides of his shirt for a scorching kiss, anything to distract him from the desperate need throbbing through him. Severus obliged gladly, but the kiss did nothing to dispel Harry’s arousal.
“Now,” he gasped, wrenching his wet mouth away from Severus’. “Now, Severus, I can’t wait any longer.”
Severus pulled away yet again, hastily stripping off the pressed black trousers and tossing them in a crumpled heap to the side. Then he settled the whole long length of his naked body against Harry, who twisted desperately. Harry’s hands found Severus’ shoulders and held on tightly as the older man thrust his cock in slow rhythm against Harry’s. The young man shuddered and cried out, hot pulses of white fluid splattering both their stomachs as he lost control. Severus smiled, and followed.
“James!” Sirius yelled in total panic. “James! Snape is fucking Harry! Snape is FUCKING MY GODSON!”
“I know,” James replied, looking round as Sirius barrelled into the room. “But he’s happy, so there’s nothing to worry about.”
“Nothing to worry about?” Sirius flailed his arms around, as if trying to portray the magnitude of horror he had just witnessed. “It’s Snape. It’s Snape and he’ll hurt Harry and Harry’ll be upset and we can’t help and--"
“Exactly, Sirius,” Lily interrupted, coming into the room with a pot of tea. “Even if there was something wrong, which there is not, there would be nothing we could do. Severus won’t hurt him. Trust him, trust Harry.”
“But…”
“Have a cup of tea,” Lily advising, pushing him gently down on the couch beside James, who slung a comforting arm around his shoulders. “Then you can go back and check on him. Alright? Everything will be fine, you’ll see.”
“I suppose.”
“Why did you want to come out here tonight?” Severus asked, turning on his side to face his drowsing lover.
“Hmm?” Harry murmured sleepily. “Oh, it was the centaurs. They said tonight the stars would be watching…” Harry’s eyes suddenly flew open as a thought occurred to him. “You don’t think they were watching the whole time, do you?” he asked anxiously.
“You should know better than to ask such an asinine question, Harry,” Severus told him. “Go to sleep.”
Severus glanced up again at the stars as his lover yawned and snuggled against him, absently pulling Severus’ discarded cloak over them.
“You had better not have been watching,” he muttered.
“Better?” Lily asked, as Sirius drained the last of his tea.
“A bit,” Sirius said, handing the cup back gratefully. “Can I go now?”
“Yes, but try to keep an open mind,” James said, doing his best not to sound as if he was lecturing. “No thunderbolts.”
“Yes, Dad,” Sirius replied, rolling his eyes and letting himself out.
“I hope he means that,” sighed Lily.
Harry opened his eyes, pleasantly aware of the slight ache across his body. He looked up at the lightening sky and smiled as his eyes fell once again on Sirius. The star seemed to burn more fiercely, more brightly as he watched.
“If he’s really up there,” Harry whispered, “I think he’s happy for us.”
Severus kissed him softly. “I think so too.”
Harry smiled against his lips. “Sirius,” he murmured. “The brightest star in the night sky.”
“I’d say the dimmest, but have it your own way.”
“Severus!”
High above them, Sirius let his glare soften a bit as Harry’s laughter drifted in the still air. “Damn, Harry,” he mumbled. “I just want the best for you. Just keep on laughing, and I’ll not send the angels of vengeance after Snape. As long as he keeps you happy.”
Softly, slowly, the stars faded and dawn broke the quiet stillness of the night. A new day was dawning; the stars slept.
