LOVE THIS. I read it when it was first posted, but somehow forgot to comment on it until just now. It really stuck with me, though, so I had to come back and let you know.
This story is so unique and deep, sad yet hopeful. I love that you've given Harry a good, loving relationship with Ginny, yet shown that there are many kinds of love, and love for one person doesn't not necessarily diminish love for another. What Harry gains from his association with Ginny is simply different from what he gains from his association with Snape, and there is room in him for both.
Poor Severus. Under normal circumstances, I think he'd be a jaelous, demanding, and possessive lover, but here he's forced to take what he can get, and be thankful for it. And he does, and is. I love that he's so vulnerable, yet still proud and distinctly Snape.
The development of the relationship is brilliant; what they gain from each other is beautiful. Snape is finally able to grow and move on, even after death, thanks to Harry... but I agree with Harry; Harry has far too much sheer Gryffindor stubbornness in him to let that be the end of things. ::sigh::
The artwork, of course, if beautiful. I love the colors and markings on Fawkes; he practically glows is the darkness. Snape is wonderfully etereal, yet his arms around Harry seem solid and protective, and his expression is all strength and compassion. Clearly, he's not lessened by death.
