Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name (lj and/or Penname): Melisandre
Your Team: Postwar
1. What made you decide to join the 2007 Snarry Games?
Well, after last year I promised my flatmate I wouldn't do it again...but I have no willpower.
2. Which Harry Potter character is your favourite to write? To read? (any POV)
Lockhart. He's so much fun, because there's a lot of freedom to do whatever you want with him. From canon, we know almost nothing about his background or his true motivations, and filling in the gaps is why I write fanfic!
3.What brought Snarry to your attention? Was it a specific event/fic/picture?
When I first started hunting for HP fic, after reading CoS, it was Snape/Lockhart that I was looking for. There was very little of it, of course, but in my searches I did stumble across Walking the Plank...the rest, as they say, is history.
4. What is your stance on "Quidditch-toned thighs"?
Gah! I'm sorry, but they play, what, three games per year? Plus training, I guess, but hey, if that amount of sitting on a broom toned one's thighs, I'd be very happy indeed.
5. Your own fanfiction (any fandom, any pairing): What do you think is your most underappreciated work? What do you think is your best work? Would you link them here for us?
I wouldn't want to say 'underappreciated' exactly, because I never expect appreciation as such, but I suppose my non-Snarry fics tend to get overlooked. I've written a fair amount of Snape/Lockhart, of which I think Celebrity is as Celebrity Does is the most popular.
As for my best fic, I don't really think I can judge, but I was also quite pleased with my most recent Snape/Lupin, Regeneration, and the Snape/Karkaroff that I wrote for the Snape Rareslash Ficathon. Not sure why neither of those are Snarries...that's a little worrying. I think my favourite of my Snarry fics would have to be Duty Calls, written for merry_smutmas, just because it was so much fun to write.
6. In your opinion, will Severus Snape turn out to be 'Dumbledore's Man' in Book 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
Nope, I think he's evil. Completely and utterly irredeemable. Don't believe me? Can you honestly say you can't see JKR turning around to us after the release of DH and saying, "Well, how obvious did I have to make it? He killed Dumbledore, for crying out loud...and can you feel that slow burn of horror as we realise that, once again, we read too much between the lines?
I'm mostly joking there, I think, but I still don't think he's "Dumbledore's Man." He's Severus Snape's Man, through and through. And Harry's Man, too ;-)
7. What do you think of podcasting, the newest fad in fandom? Would you like to hear one of your own stories, or one of your favourites voiced via .mp3?
You know, I've never actually listened to a podcast. I download them, copy them to my iPod, and I convince myself that one day I'll listen to them, but that day hasn't come yet.
I have recorded a few bits for them, though -- the interview with the Phelps twins and the reading of lazy_neutrino's Five Have a Magical Time, both for Spellcast, and I was accosted by SnapeCast at Lumos. All of that was a lot of fun, so I'm definitely all for podcasting...just need the time to listen to the things!
8. What pairing have you never written that you would love to try one day? (Any fandom)
Slughorn/Lockhart. I have this wonderful image of a young Lockhart struggling through school, being generally hopeless at magic. If anyone's going to pick up on his charisma and encourage him to use that to get ahead despite his failings, it's going to be Slughorn.
9. What's your favourite kink to read?
What? Kinks? I'm far too much of a prudish Brit to know anything about that... Seriously, I'm actually horribly vanilla with my smut -- I like it all nice and romantic. I do have a Vampire kink, though. Mmmm, Vampire!Snape...
10. How do you feel about participating in this year's Snarry Games?
Excited, of course, but a little nervous too. Running Sectus eats up every moment of my spare time, so I haven't yet worked out how I'm going to write the thing. Obviously it's more important than actual paid work, though, so the time will come from somewhere... ;-)
Thank you, Melisandre!
Stay tuned for more Crack!Art tomorrow!
