CHAMPION INTERVIEW # 29, DragonLight!
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name: DragonLight ze_dragon though I think most people have just started referring to me as Dragon
Your Team: Team Postwar
1. What made you decide to join the 2007 Snarry Games?
I really wanted to participate last year, but I didn't get a chance due to RL happenings, so this year I was more than eager to participate after reading last year's offerings. :D
2. Which Harry Potter character is your favourite to write? To read? (any POV)
I love reading about Harry probably more than any other character. I love writing Harry more than any other character. I also really love writing Draco... more than I like reading about him, oddly enough. While I like reading and writing Snape, I wouldn't say that he's my favorite to write by a long shot. He's fun, but I'll always pick Harry first. I mean, he's *HARRY* There is just no one that compares. :P *watches in horror as Snapefen scurry to unfriend*
3.What brought Snarry to your attention? Was it a specific event/fic/picture?
My road to Snarry was long, but not really convoluted. I started reading fic all the way back in 1999... it seems very long ago now. At the time, I was reading het, though nothing really grabbed my interest. So then, I sort of floated over to gen and then Severitus and then Harry/Draco for a bit... yeah, I don't understand that leap either, but I was still reading a bunch of Severitus fic. I don't know which fic it was... there weren't a lot of them at the time though, quite a few, but not a ton. I think it was the Tea series actually, that started the whole thing.
4. What is your stance on "Quidditch-toned thighs"?
Do I have to have a stance? Can I opt out of it? Really, I could take it or leave it, though it is becoming cliched. :P Which is, I'm sure, why you asked!
5. Your own fanfiction (any fandom, any pairing): What do you think is your most underappreciated work? What do you think is your best work? Would you link them here for us?
This is a tough question. My most underappreciated work... I'd have to say is the Somewhere Out There story arc consisting of To Dream These Dreams, To Cast These Spells, and To Heal These Wounds. It really is a single story, just told in three parts. At the time that I wrote it, I really surpassed what my writing was before, but I got the impression that it wasn't very well received in fandom. I think that one just barely surpasses my Ron/Draco fic Drowning in Insanity for underappreciated ze_dragon fic.
My best work? It has to be Paradox of Existence. I really thought hard before picking it as my best, but I really think it is, particularly after the rewrite. Am I completely happy with it? No, there are still things that I'd change, to be honest, but as far as the story goes, it is my best.
6. In your opinion, will Severus Snape turn out to be 'Dumbledore's Man' in Book 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
Let's just say that I really want to play the Devil's Advocate on this one in a fandom debate. Well, not really, 'cause it'd be dangerous, but still...
7. What do you think of podcasting, the newest fad in fandom? Would you like to hear one of your own stories, or one of your favourites voiced via .mp3?
I think it would be very interesting to hear one of my stories voiced. I'd love to hear it, in fact. Podcasting in general, though, I don't think I have a strong opinion of. I suppose it all depends on what you're listening to. I couldn't get into the news sort of podcasts even when I knew the people being interviewed and such, but then again I'm not a news radio sort of person (unless you're talking about the sitcom :P), and I haven't listened to any fics that have been read yet...
8. What pairing have you never written that you would love to try one day? (Any fandom)
I don't know... usually if I want to write something, I give it a shot even if I don't finish and/or post it. Part of the reason that I don't have a desire to write outside of HP, is that I haven't found a non-visual fandom that interests me enough to want to write. I have this problem -- completely my own -- that visual fandoms (Anime, manga, television/movies) cause. I can't write words on the page. Part of that is because I don't see myself as a descriptive writer, and partly because I feel a need to want to express myself in a media similar to the source material.
9. What's your favourite kink to read?
Currently it's voyeurism and cross-dressing. Especially cross-dressing in Regency attire told from a voyeur's point of view. Mmmmmmmmmm.
10. How do you feel about participating in this year's Snarry Games?
I'm excited, of course! There are so many wonderful authors competing that I'm rather nervous too. But I know that it'll be fun. :D
Thank you, ze_dragon!
