CHAMPION INTERVIEW # 17 - Go Seaward!!
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name (lj and/or Penname): Go Seaward (goseaward) (waits for the chorus of "Oh, THAT'S how you say that!")
Your Team: Postwar
1. What made you decide to join the 2007 Snarry Games?
I got an email and decided I really didn't have enough to do this quarter. :) Um, and I've been missing writing--my life has been quite busy lately--so I wanted something that would force me to. Plus, when I saw the list of genres and teams, a bunny popped into my head, baring its tiny teeth.
2. Which Harry Potter character is your favourite to write? To read? (any POV)
To write....hmmm. I write an awful lot of Snape, but I think my favorite is probably the Weasley twins. They're just so irrepressible. To read is Snape, when he's done well--but I'm extremely picky, so the actual number of enjoyed Snapes is relatively small. I enjoy a wider range of Harrys. Close-to-canon Minerva is also a blast.
3.What brought Snarry to your attention? Was it a specific event/fic/picture?
Well, I'd heard about slash before I started reading fanfic. So when I first came into fandom, I found slash pretty quickly--Harry/Lucius, IIRC. I actually found Snarry through the Severitus challenge; I read a few of those through Snape/Hermione, I think, and even the gen Severitus stories were linking to something called the Tea Series. I found that on the same archive that had Sushi's War pieces, and from there I found Cybele's If You Are Prepared (not yet finished--this was Dec. 2002) and with that kind of introduction, I mean, seriously, who WOULDN'T read the pairing? And then within six months I'd joined the HP/SS FQF, and then the SSFF, and everything was downhill from there. :D
4. What is your stance on "Quidditch-toned thighs"?
I enjoy the phrase about as much as I enjoy a nice colonoscopy.
5. Your own fanfiction (any fandom, any pairing): What do you think is your most underappreciated work? What do you think is your best work? Would you link them here for us?
Underappreciated...hrm. I think that would go to....*reads through the list* A fic I wrote for the HP/SS FQF called "The Honest Truth (here). It's short and PG-13, but I like it a lot. :D
My best is easily Nine and Sixty Ways, found here. It's Snape/Draco, an exploration of what happens after book six. Well, sort of. You'd have to read it to understand.
6. In your opinion, will Severus Snape turn out to be 'Dumbledore's Man' in Book 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
Well, obviously. What kind of fan would think anything else? *looks around fandom* Apparently a lot of them. Okay. But obviously, my viewpoint is not compromised by inappropriate feelings of loathing and is therefore correct.
I do subscribe to amanuensis1's position, that is, the book makes such sense read as Snape-acting-for-Dumbledore that it's hard to really quantify why I think this is so.
7. What do you think of podcasting, the newest fad in fandom?Would you like to hear one of your own stories, or one of your favourites voiced via .mp3?
I don't really have time to listen to them; plus there's something about the word "cock" when spoken that's distinctly different from reading it. I can't quite help blushing when I hear it. Hearing one of my own stories would probably be okay. I doubt I could read them myself, though. Just something about my nice Midwestern young adult voice saying "arse"...doesn't quite work. I mean, do you pronounce the r? Because in my dialect you would. Or do you say ahss, which
sounds like a stupid bad British accent? Or do you say ass, which sounds correct in my accent but totally bizarre for Snape? I mean, leaving aside any weirdness of Snape saying arse in the first place? Wow, this is a long digression. Short answer: Podcast good. Me like other people's podcasts.
8. What pairing have you never written that you would love to try one day? (Any fandom)
Betty/Christina, from Ugly Betty.
9. What's your favourite kink to read?
Hmm. D/s, I think. But only within actual sex scenes--it kind of creeps me out outside the bedroom.
10. How do you feel about participating in this year's Snarry Games?
Oh just EXCELLENT! I'm loving it so much :) It's been a long time-- maybe since the first HP/SS FQF I did, actually--since I've felt so much a part of a community while writing.
Thank you, goseaward!
Stay tuned for more Champion Interviews, and even more Crack!Art!
