Your Name (lj and/or Penname): Threesidedorchid/synn
Your Team: Wartime!
1. What made you decide to join the 2007 Snarry Games?
The very fond memories I have of the games last year -- I didn't think last years champions would be invited back, and was ecstatic to be proved wrong.
2. Which Harry Potter character is your favourite to write? To read? (any POV)
Snape, hands down, for writing. He's a challenge to portray well (especially since he's 10X's more sarcastic, witty, and intelligent than I), but also a lot of fun thanks to his complexity and intelligence. Reading... that depends on how, and how well, the character is written. Usually Snape, occasionally Draco, in rare instances, Harry.
3.What brought Snarry to your attention? Was it a specific event/fic/picture?
Oh dear, I don't think I remember. I believe I started w/ Harry/Draco. While enjoyable, I found it missing... strength. From there, I hunted down Snape/Harry b/c I figured Snape's character would bring in the power/strength/sarcasm I wanted. I'm pretty sure it did, since it's been 3 1/2 years and I'm still not tired of the pairing.
4. What is your stance on "Quidditch-toned thighs"?
I can believe it to be fairly accurate, if one played often. However, it's overused and does nothing for the scene (IMHO).
5. Your own fanfiction (any fandom, any pairing): What do you think is your most underappreciated work? What do you think is your best work? Would you link them here for us?
underappreciated... hm. I guess 'Understanding'
Best work... I'm tempted to name my snarry_games story from last year, but 'Beneath Silence' (a Remus/Sirius ficlet) seems to affect people more, so I'll say that one.
6. In your opinion, will Severus Snape turn out to be 'Dumbledore's Man' in Book 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
While I wouldn't be surprised by anything from JKR, the evidence points either way, and I generally avoid any kind of speculation. I do think he'll turn out to be 'Dumbledore's man'.
7. What do you think of podcasting, the newest fad in fandom? Would you like to hear one of your own stories, or one of your favourites voiced via .mp3?
I haven't listened to a podcast yet (I don't listen to anything very much), so it's hard for me to say anything on the matter. It's another way to connect, and that's alaways nice -- especially since it allows us to actually hear a voice of the fandom, rather than simply imagining it from illuminated text. Honestly, it's not really a medium for me, though. I don't absorb audio information very well when there's no related visual information, and books/stories on tape always end up blurring together in my ears unless I force myself to constantly focus on each word. I do think it would be fun to read a story aloud, though.
8. What pairing have you never written that you would love to try one day? (Any fandom)
I'd love to write Holmes/Watson, but don't trust myself to get the period right. Snape/Draco. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. House/Chase/Wilson... wait, you only wanted one. I'll stop now.
9. What's your favourite kink to read?Slash. That's a really tough question, actually, b/c I really do enjoy just about everything (except roses and candelight... unless we're talking wax and thorns). Hmm... I've a bit of an oral fixation, and keen on power-plays, so a good hand-pulling-hair-throat-touching-desper
10. How do you feel about participating in this year's Snarry Games?
Really excited to be part of such a group again, and a bit terrified of attempting to write a wartime story. : )
Thank you, synn
Stay tuned tomorrow for a very special Valentine's Day Crack!Art
