INTERVIEW # 21
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name: Queen of the Damned (damned_queen)
Your Team: Angst
1. What made you decide to agree to compete in these games?
I saw this link to the Snarry Games popping up somewhere in my flist and I thought it would be really cool to be able to compete, of course, but I was certain of the fact that I’d never get chosen for either of the teams. Yes, I put my name in the hat without even daring to dream it would ever come out again, but to my great astonishment it did and here I am *g* But yeah… I did agree to compete, just because it’s such an honour to do this and quite frankly I was/am rather curious whether or not I’m going to live this all through without embarrassing myself completely.
2. Why did you choose the Angst/Romance Team?
For me, the choice wasn’t really that hard to make because I’ve always been an angst/drama/darkfic fan and I’m utter crap at writing something that should actually be considered as being romantic, especially if we’re talking Snarry’s… because honestly, who can write a hopelessly besotted Snape without making him look scary?
3. Have you always been interested in the Severus Snape/Harry Potter dynamic?
Always, no not really. Though I have been rather fond of the pairing ever since quite some time now. Granted, I haven’t yet read all the classics one should have read, neither have I written any actual Snarry’s before but I do love the pairing dearly.
4. What is more challenging to you – working WITH strict canon or working AROUND strict canon?
Working with strict canon, definitely. Yes, of course you are in a way forced to work around canon because JKR isn’t a slasher (not really, anyway) but still I try to keep things as canonish - is that even a word? - as possible :)
5. What motivates you?
Gee, a lot of things motivate me but nothing in particular, really. I guess I just want to prove myself most of the time, especially because I’m not a native English speaker and all. Lol. But that’s a different story, which has nothing to do with this in fact.
6. Do you have plans for (or are you already writing) original fiction?
I’d love to do so, but quite frankly I don’t think I’m good enough for that. Maybe once I finished my studies and gathered enough self-confidence to take the plunge and write something original, but for now I think the world isn’t quite ready to cope with me publishing books yet.
7. What three things are necessary for you to enjoy a story you are reading?
The characters need to written IC, no matter what. I need to be able to read the story and think ‘Yes, that is exactly how I thought (s)he would react!’ Then secondly, the story needs to be beta-ed because spelling & grammar mistakes are such a major turn off for me. And last but not least the concept of the story must contain a certain amount of originality, because I absolutely detest clichés unless they’re used intentionally in order to make people laugh.
8. What are your Top 5 favourite fanfiction stories?
If You Are Prepared by Cybele (Snape/Harry)
Beautiful World by Cinnamon (Harry/Draco)
Left My Heart by Emma Grant (Harry/Draco)
Le Droit Du Seigneur by Amanuensis (Lucius/Harry)
Primary Care by The Senjou (Remus/Severus)
9. Do you have a story (any fandom) you’ve done that you are most proud of? Would you link it here for us?
I actually can’t say I’m proud of one particular story, especially because all the somewhat decent stories I’m writing are WIPs. At the moment I think Serpent’s Embrace (http://www.fanfictionworld.net/hparchi
10. Are you excited about the Games?
Obviously, yes XD *dies again and again and again with excitement* I’m eager to read all those wonderful fics I’m sure are about to be written!
Thank you, damned_queen!
