Walking the Plank

Original poster: aliciamasters

As you all know, [info]djin7 and I are both mods at Walking the Plank.  [info]snapetoy, one of your lovely silver medalists, is our fearless leader.  Your teammates are also mods:  [info]vain,[info]stellahobbit,[info]venivincere, [info]reddwarfer, and [info]rexluscus.  (Did I forget anyone?  I hope not, but I'm exhausted!  Do you wish you were on this list?  Feel free to volunteer!)  Therefore, we would be honored and overjoyed if you decided to host your stories at Walking the Plank, now that the fest is over.  I have created two open series under djin7's name, one for Team Romance and one for Team Angst.

If you've never hosted at Walking the Plank, it is a moderated community of Snarry fanfiction.  Here's where you sign up for an account.  You'll love it:  I promise!  These are the submission guidelines.  In addition, we have walkthroughs created to help you figure out how to post.  Once it's up, reply to this comment, and I will take it through the submissions process and add it to the series, so that everyone who followed the Snarry Games can find your stories together. All your entry needs to say is I'm ready!  (It can say more if you want, though. ) If you are struggling, or need help getting your story up on the site, let me know.  We'll work something out.  My e-mail is aliciamastersATgmailDOTcom.

Here are a few FAQs about an Open Series.

Will adding my story to the series mean it will look like DJ wrote it?
Absolutely not.  An open series is one where many authors can contribute.  It will show up under your author name, and your author profile.  It will also show up under the series, but it will still list you as the author.

What if I choose to take the story off Walking the Plank?
The story will automatically delete from the series if you remove it from the archive.  You don't need to worry.

What if I have questions, or I'm confused about the process?

You can e-mail me, reply to this post, or e-mail wtp.moderators@gmail.com.  I want to make this fun and easy for you!  WTP is very proud to be loosely affiliated with such a great event.

What if the moderators at Walking the Plank do not approve my story?

Should such a thing happen, it would include corrections within the letter that will probably fix the problem.  You have all helped each other with very thorough betas.  STORIES ARE USUALLY REJECTED BECAUSE THE WARNINGS ARE NOT COMPLETE.  It is the most likely reason you would have anything other than an acceptance.  If you check your warnings, and preview the document to make sure you are happy with it, chances are extremely slim there will be anything to worry about.  Besides:  we will review your story up to three times.  Don't worry!

Am I forced to post my story on Walking the Plank?

Not at all.  However, I'm not above begging.  Or bribes.  Or stalking.  I think it might be easier to comply.  Besides, won't it be nice to be housed with your teammates in some fashion?

What makes Walking the Plank special?
Other than its lovely mods?  We believe strongly that all stories are the writer's, and that we hold them in trust.  To avoid a meltdown like Detention, we have many moderators, and we have a very open policy.  That leads to a feel of cooperation unlike any that I've experienced until now, and which you saw reflected in the wonderful people here at Snarry Games.  We maintain Walking the Plank in trust for all the fen, and we have volunteers from many countries.  You can read all about Walking the Plank here.

I was very lucky to be a mod on this contest, and I'm already looking forward to the Snarry Games, Art Style!  Meanwhile, I hope you will consider WTP a home for your fic.  REMEMBER:  if something is stopping you, please feel free to contact me.  Maybe we can work it out.

Thank you for letting me be a part of this experience!  I hope I see you at Walking the Plank soon!

ETA:  Elfwreck reminded me about the drabbles!  I'll make a series for them, too!
ETA2:  Stellahobbit had to remind me she is a mod, which is shameful, because she is both an extraordinary mod and the object of my unhealthy obsession great love.  That is inexcusable, and while the post is edited to fix it, I will be applying forty lashes strict discipline  whatever punishment she sees fit. Stella, you're more than a mod;  you're worthy of worship!
