INTERVIEW # 27
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name: naatz
Your Team: Angst
1. What made you decide to agree to compete in these games?
The challenge. I love challenging myself, and some of my best things ever came out in the form of a challenge.
2. Why did you choose the Angst Team?
I wouldn't have minded both. I normally write drama and angst, so I felt I was stunting myself as a writer by not writing more genres. Now, Team Morality has won my loyalty, so I belong to Angst with all my heart!
3. Have you always been interested in the Severus Snape/Harry Potter dynamic?
I see them as two different people, occasionally mixing along. I'm interested mostly in the Snape of the relationship, because he's fascinating. Harry? I'd call him Parve, and anybody familiar with Jewish kosher laws would understand this -- he fits everything. Like tofu, really, fitting everything and absorbing the same taste as the other person he's with. I feel that Harry's being with Snape will mostly change Snape, and as Snape is the person I'm interested in, I'm all for it. :>
4. What is more challenging to you – working WITH strict canon or working AROUND strict canon?
I enjoy twisting the strict canon to fit my moods. Working around canon without bending it -- now that's art.
5. What motivates you?
At the beginning? This urge to write. I can't not write, and I've percieved myself as a writer ever since I began percieving myself.
Later throughout the story? Music. Friendly prods. Violent prods. Competition. Challenge. Sometimes the story will completely grip me, and I'll be forced to finish it, but that's rather rare.
6. Do you have plans for (or are you already writing) original fiction?
Definitely. I've done some dabbling in original fiction in Israel, and managed to have one of my short stories published. I'm in the middle of writing a series of one-shots. I also have a novella in planning, and I'm just waiting for the time to write it {as in, Story, please tell me where you begin!}.
7. What three things are necessary for you to enjoy a story you are reading?
I want the writer to mean it. I can read utter crap if it's obvious that the writer feels for the story and actually wants it to be very, very, VERY good. I can't ignore absolutely horrid writing, though; I require some punctuation, I require basic spelling, I require an understanding of the concept of paragraphs. But, the thing that I really require? I guess you could call it either intention, undeveloped/developed writing potential or appreciation to and of writing from the writer's side.
8. What are your Top 5 8 favourite fanfiction stories?
I'll follow my Captain's footsteps, because there are so many Perfections out there:
Cartographer's Craft by copperbadge {HP/SB, RL/NT}
The Chosen by allecto {HP/VC}
Draco Malfoy Saves the World by memorycharmed {DM/SS}
Going to Explain? by Closet Skeleton {HP/DM}
Indago{+ sequels} by LdDurham {HP/DM}
In Spite by amanuensis1 {SS/RL}
The Life In Your Years by fourth_rose {HP/DM}
Love Hurts by scifichick774 {HrG/AP}
9. Do you have a story (any fandom) you’ve done that you are most proud of? Would you link it here for us?
My latest, actually. It's called "Like Sunflowers to the Sun", and hasn't actually been posted yet, but it's finished. It has Draco around the final battle, in St. Mungo's: a bit before, a bit during, and a lot of after. The main reason of writing it was to write a Harry/Draco fic {along with two other elements that are spoilers}, but somehow, it got overrun by the Draco and Snape interaction.
10. Are you excited about the Games?
More like apprehensive. ^^;
Thank you, naatz!
