INTERVIEW # 23
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name: acidquill
Your Team: Team Angst
1. What made you decide to agree to compete in these games?
Initially I think I suffered a bout of momentary insanity, because I'm usually really nervous about my writing to participate in anything. But lately it seems my muse has been after me to just jump in and enjoy the wild writing ride. And it's turning out rather grand.
2. Why did you choose the Angst/Romance Team?
Angst seems to be almost hardwired into me. It's the majority of what I write and what I read. Not that I don't really like other types as well, but angst is at the top, bottom, and middle of my list.
3. Have you always been interested in the Severus Snape/Harry Potter dynamic?
I started out as a total Draco/Harry girl, but I happened on a SS/HP (on ff.net of all places) and it absolutely amazed me. After that, there was no way not to appreciate the pairing and the things that are capable of occurring in the hands of a good writer.
4. What is more challenging to you – working WITH strict canon or working AROUND strict canon?
Definitely with. I mean, I think there's always a way around anything, but to adhere absolutely to what is already there is the real challenge to me. It makes me concentrate more on the details and
really brings out the part of me that perseveres.
5. What motivates you?
I'm not exactly sure how to explain it, other than I've always been one for what if. And I always want more. I'm a true believer of reading between the lines, on top of them, under them, and any where else where it looks like there could be something left unsaid. And then I want to be someone who gets to say it.
6. Do you have plans for (or are you already writing) original fiction?
Lol, believe it or not I started my first original fic when I was about ten. It's still around and eventually I will get it the way I like it. I do have a few others that hang around and get worked on sporadically.
7. What three things are necessary for you to enjoy a story you are reading?
I like a story to strike a chord and just thrum. I usually find writing styles have a lot to do with this. I'm more for...nontraditional styles. Ones where maybe it's not 'Character A did this. Character B said...' Um. this is a little hard to articulate. On-spot characterisation is always a good thing. I'm also a sucker for minor characters and unconventional pairings.
8. What are your Top 5 favourite fanfiction stories?
1. Diamonds in the Dust by Armand Malfoy
2. All His Saints by setissma
3. Thread by anise_anise
4. Beneath You by Cinnamon
5. and basically anything by Amanuensis.
9. Do you have a story (any fandom) you’ve done that you are most proud of? Would you link it here for us?
It would definitely have to be If It Feels Like It Works.
10. Are you excited about the Games?
Absolutely. A nervous wreck, mind you, but that's the good part.
Thank you, acidquill!
