I would thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you my heart has no bottom.
Dear Friends of Snarry:
This was an amazing year, with a new "mixed art and fic" format, and our largest ever. It once again showed that the most talented people are still within the Snarry fandom. We had 50 truly exquisite pieces of art plus 50 excellent stories, and as always – fantastic and entertaining Opening and Closing Games ceremonies!
Also, many Champions, past and present, helped this round of the Games with pimping and reccing, and commenting. Our hope always has been to help facilitate a sense of community in this fandom, hoping to keep the SS Snarry sailing through calm waters. When we see how fantastically supportive the champions are, whether author or artist, it makes all our hard work worth every minute spent. Thank you, all!
Before we announce the medalists for the 2009 Mixed Snarry Games, I would like to take this time to thank some people who really went above and beyond the call of duty this round:
I would like to thank ponderosa121 for donating our beautiful Snarry Games artwork for 2009. Pond blessed us with gorgeous layout art and refused any sort of recompense for it, and provided her Team, Snitch, with not one, but two magnificent entries, coming through in record time with a late Games pinch. Thank you, Pond! You are a jewel in the crown of Snarry Artists.
I would also like to thank xingou for our layout using the artwork, and making our wonderful header, and providing us with pimp banners, icons. Then she stepped in when we were short an artist, and became a Champion! Thank you, Rach!
Thank you also to our graphics Queen and friend, swtalmnd, who designed our fantastic Team Lists and prompt & genre tables, along with pimp banners and team icons using Pond's art! So much ♥LOVE♥
I managed to steal away elanorofcastile once more for the mod squad this year. She not only provided our wonderful weekly Recap Posts, but our also new sortable 2009 Master List! She has designed the wonderful banners, medals and icons you will see shortly for our Champions. Thank you, Jen! ♥
To snakeling who tirelessly coded and worked for months to keep the Games a well-oiled machine - I don't know how to thank you for all that hard work, and I don't have the words to tell you how much I depended on you and trusted you implicitly. You are an incredible person, and I'm blessed to count you as a friend and Games supporter and Mod. ♥
midnitemarauder has been invaluable, starting the organisation that kept me sane for these Games, checking in our submissions while Leila and I were away at Azkatraz (missing her!) and setting up the Mod Spreadsheet of Love ™ that made our lives so much easier. When not busy with her own bigbangblackout, she once again aided us when in need for the polls. ♥
Rai, (magic_helmet) was an amazing help to us yet again. I've said it before, she gives and gives, and never asks for anything in return. Her skills are many and varied, and her help is priceless. ♥
Thank you to themostepotente, who was constantly volunteering herself for mod duties, having bowed out of participating this year, thank you! ♥
Leila (reddwarfer), I love you, you know that, right? Do I have to say the words? ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
And to aliciamasters: We missed you like burning this year, but RL took your attention, as it rightly should. That being said, I always knew you were there if I needed you, and you are the rock that this community stands on. You did a huge job for me when I needed you, and for that I can't thank you enough. May you always have the joys in life you deserve. ♥
We would like to dedicate this round of the snarry_games to simons_flower, who was a member of Team Snitch until the universe decided it was time for her to leave us. The Snarry Games Mods and Teams made a donation to her daughter's college fund in her memory, in the hopes that one day she'll experience her own mother's love of writing. ♥
The scores are great, but the real reward for our Champions are the wonderful, thoughtful comments from the readers. At the Games, we are lucky to have thousands of comments, all of which keep this fantastic level of talent returning home to us.
To all the readers and fans who helped make this project a huge success: you truly have my deepest gratitude. Thanks to you all, for watching and reviewing, for voting and pimping, and for reccing and listing! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! *applauds*
**Remember that even though the polls are now closed for this round, these entries will remain up, so please: if you haven't taken the time yet, it's not too late. Please revisit the entries, and comment, comment, comment!
Stay tuned for the final announcements! The totals are in, and have been tallied. The moment you've all been waiting for is up next, the 2009 Snarry Art Games Medal Ceremony!
There is yet more to come this week, including information about our fourth annual Snarry Games Art Tribute Video, a fabulous concept provided by our most illustrious Snarry Vidder and Snapecast Editor, chaeche. You will also find posting instructions for Walking the Plank, and final mod notes including an announcement about the future of the Snarry Games.
