Glad you liked it overall. You'll note that Crossover wasn't one of my genres, as this wasn't a crossover. I could've easily substituted the name 'Kyle Klach' for Hamish's, and 'Plockton' for 'Lochdubh', and no one would've been the wiser, because I was very careful to actually make these appear as if they could be eccentric, but original, concepts. I'm not a huge fan of crossovers either, and intentionally avoided the genre.
Julian was a shock, and came near the end of the story. Shocks to readers often appear contrived. I had one other reader who was disappointed by this development, but it stemmed more from a desire to see Severus and Harry only needing each other than the feeling that it didn't fit.
