TEAM PHOENIX ENTRY: "If, For Moment" By Chupachup
Title: If, For a Moment
Artist: chupachup
Team: Team Phoenix
Email: chupako AT gmail
Genre(s): Postwar
Prompt(s): Worst Memory, Waking Dream
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: PG13; None
Artist's Notes/Thank you's: I really need to thank the wonderful, patient, amazing mod(s) incredibly much for putting up with my literal last-minute shenanigans. Thank you so much! Gods among men, ye be. And also a thanks to whomever the pinch-hitter was from the other team that made my submitting this possible :D
Random artist notes, haha! Firstly, my beta told me whoever reads this needs to put on some sad jams first. Secondly, I was kinda hoping for artistic ambiguity, but if it happens to be incompetent coherence, please forgive me! I really do hope it makes some kind of sense and that you enjoy it. More apologies if the talking balloons are confusing at the beginning :(
And random trivia, but I couldn't smoothly fit this into the narrative; the flowers are supposed to be forget-me-nots :D
Media used: Pencil, Corel Painter X
Archiving/Usage permission, including the Tribute Video (only after the polls have closed and medals have been awarded): yes!

Dial up users BEWARE of multiple panels under cut.

I am honestly crying... you are the Master of Snarry.
Maybe I'll comment more when I pick my jaw up off the floor.

Wow, I was not expecting that turn of events! Beautiful renderings of Harry and Snape--I especially love Harry's wide-eyedness. ♥

I can't really add much to what the others have said, this is a very subtle & profound piece and I don't think you could have executed it any better. I love the little touches (the pills turning to flowers between realities & Harry having/not having his glasses likewise), all I can say is that I'm very glad that your on my team! :)

Wow. Incredible story you've told. Fantastic twist in the middle. I love how young Harry looks in his 'dreams' very much contrasted with how he looks in the hospital bed. There really aren't sufficient words-just brilliant.

Wow, your Harry is seriously f**ked up. I am assuming from the quote that he succeeded in committing suicide at the end, going past dreaming to the final sleep. This is a fascinating piece of work.

You made me cry. So good -- and I like the story's ambiguity, it works well. Also love the "snow and trees all around" panel from the beginning. Really beautiful.

That was absolutely incredible. It gave me hope, then broke my heart, then gave me hope, then broke my heart again. I kept thinking that if I read it twice (or three times) that I would come up with something more to say, other than a simplistic "I loved this".
I love fanfic and fanart, but rarely have I seen so much depth covered by an art paneling. It was plotty without saying a lot, since the actions and little notes (such as "pass", text size, or the location of speaking bubbles) put a lot more realism into such a scene than a thousand words of fanfic might not have captured.

This is brilliantly done. Your sense of storytelling feels very right in manga format, the art is consistent and works perfectly in the format, and your dialogue is very good as well. Also, I'm a sucker for Camus.

Wonderful stuff! I was really blown away by this entry.
