TEAM PHOENIX ENTRY: "A Real Boy" by Miyoung
Title: A Real Boy
Artist: Miyoung ([info]miyoung_boz)
Team: Phoenix
Email: miyoungboz at gmail
Genre(s): Alternate Reality *Hover/Click for Games Definition of Alternate Reality*, & Horror
Prompt(s): Rebirth
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: PG13; Drag mouse over space if you wish to know: * *Slight gore, Body Modification (for sewing into skin)* *
Artist's Notes/Thank you's: I had originally wanted to do something else, but time was not on my side (even with the extension from the gracious mods). This is from my first brainstorming session. I'd thought it might be fun to do a macabre image based on Pinocchio. Snape, as the Gepetto character, is fashioning himself a toy out of odds and ends he's acquired.
Media used: Photoshop
Archiving/Usage permission, including the Tribute Video (only after the polls have closed and medals have been awarded): Video is fine. Please contact me for anything else.

Dial up users note larger image under cut.

A Real Boy, by Miyoung

MOD NOTE: POLL IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE SNARRY GAMES.

Holy bleeding hell. This is disturbingly addictive. I mean... yeah, I don't even know. High marks to you and now I'm gonna stop questioning it and finish looking at it.

Harry is beautiful! I like the idea of Snape making himself a puppet. And the look in Harry's eyes is awesomely creepy :) Very well done!

Horror indeed! The empty look in the puppet's eyes is superb.

Kudos for your AR choice; I'd've never thought of it in my wildest dreams...and then you made it 'deer-in-the-headlights' horror. My god, I'm looking one last time, and then I'm not coming back, else I'll have nightmares. Reminds me a bit of the villain in 'Silence of the Lambs', making clothes out of human skin. Snape looks appropriately crazed and Harry looks very doll-like. *shudders*. You did a great job with thtis.

Wow. This is beautiful. The realism of Snape and Harry's drawing style contrasts with the dreamy glow-like technique you used and that's what makes this piece so chilling. Chillingly beautiful that is.

A very creative piece of fanart! And I say that as someone who's been in fandom a long time.

Positively horrifying-yet not especially gory (thank goodness). Full credit for taking Pinocchio and fashioning it perfectly for the Potterverse. I think mental!Snape absolutely could do something like this. The looks on both their faces-Snape pleased with his work and Harry glassy eyed, empty. Chilling. Excellent work.

Wow. Pinocchio Meets Frankenstein. This is both stunning and creepy. It's stunningly creepy. Love the details -- blood on the thread and Snape's raggedy shirt, and the expressions on both their faces. *applauds* Really well done.

Wow. Just wow.

I absolutely love the little details, like the stitches and the flowing strands of their hair.

At first Harry looks dead, the glassiness in his eyes, but looking at the redness surrounding the stitches, which means infection, shows that Harry is alive. The same with the blood on the thread that goes to the needle.

In some areas there is the redness of the infection and open sore-like stitches, but there is also places where there is no redness, like on his face and parts of his thighs, which goes to show how long Snape has been doing this.

Then there is the look on Snape's face as he looks towards his creation, Harry. he looks so satisfied, so pleased with himself in this torture.

Also, I noticed that Harry doesn't have nipples. And has a bit of a chest.

Is this not a torture, but an actual Frankenstein-like building of a body of parts?

Either way, this is brilliant, beautiful, and deeply disturbing. Love it.

*shudder* It's creepy and I really don't want to read the story behind this but somehow I find it beautiful nevertheless. Especially their eyes. *confused*

Oh wow, this is so bone-chillingly beautiful. It's such a horrific scene, imo, but somehow, it's captivating and I just can't look away. Wonderful job!

I can't stop staring! My brain is stuck in a loop of "oh my god. oh my god. oh my god..."

For all of the creepy, Harry is still gorgeous. It's amazing how you managed to create a total lack of expression on his face, which is perfect for someone not yet alive. This is really just amazing.

WHAT THE FUCK.

That was my initial reaction when I saw the stiching. I'm assuming this is after the war and Harry died. . . is he alive now, or just an animated body?!?!?

D:

So, so creepy, but I really love the bruise on Harry's leg and the distant look in his eyes. There's no soul beneath those eyes! AHHHHHH

Wonderful work!

Wow, this is horror at its best (worst?). *shudders* The details are frightening - the blood on the thread, the bruises on the puppet, the glassy expression on Harry's face and in his eyes, and the look of satisfaction on Severus's face. Gah! Talk about nailing your genre.

I am oddly mesmerized by the stray threads on his clothes. Perhaps it's because I hate dolls. They creep me out.

Lovely job!
