CHAMPION INTERVIEW # 23 - Rosivan!
We welcome another newcomer:
Your Name: r0sivan (more commonly, rosivan, or Alex)
Your Team: Phoenix!
Archive: (optional)
Your best bet would be the art tag on my LJ - found here.
1. Which HP character gives you the most trouble to draw?
Buckbeak. Does Buckbeak count? Um…Flitwick too. Possibly Hagrid, but I can't say I've ever tried, so maybe not… Oh! And Sirius's hair. Because that's definitely a character.
2. What was the first fandom you ever produced art for?
The Legends of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. WHICH, by the way, is having its tenth anniversary this November…you should do some fanart in honour of it. *HINTHINT* >__> But, uh. Yes, it was LoZ:OoT, and for Dark Link. :D
3. Has your experience in fandom changed the way you do art? How?
Fandom has given me more confidence to do any sort of art I want to pull out of my head, no matter how lame, cracky, angsty or pretty it is. For a long time I was nervous to share my work with anyone in the fandom, especially the artists that I've haunted and admired from afar, but it turns out that everyone's pretty wonderful about art and the sharing of it. <3 Thanks guys.
4. In a Snape/Harry/(Phoenix) cage match, who wins?
Harry's out first, because he's unwilling to fight either of them, and thinks that Sev and the phoenix will follow his noble actions. HA. No such luck. Harry goes down by a wave of fire from the phoenix, and then Sev and the phoenix have a staring match. Sev, a master of such art, causes the phoenix to have eyestrain, making it cry tears of pain….which happen to drop on Harry, and the hero is revived!
In revenge, the phoenix catches Sev in the back of the head with its wing, temporarily stunning him. Harry, seeing that there is no way out of it, cries expelliarmis and waves his wand at the phoenix. However, the phoenix has read the book, and anticipates this. It dodges and tries to carry Harry away by his ankles. Sev has recovered by then, and grabs Harry's hands, trying to save him.
The phoenix pulls them both off the ground with a burst of strength, but forgets that they are in a cage and smashes into the ceiling. Sev and Harry fall to the ground, the phoenix falls on them, and all are sent unconscious.
So, in short, I don't know who wins, but technically, the phoenix came out on top.
;D *lame*
5. What are your favourite mediums to work with?
Graphite and pencils for lineart and then Photoshop 7 for colouring. I lovelovelove watercolours, but I'm not very good at it yet. I also love working with oil pastels, but they're quite messy and difficult to put up for viewing online. They mostly sit around my room, or get filed away in a portfolio.
6. What do you consider your strongest talent? Your weakest?
Fabric, hair and possibly skin tones and storytelling with one image are my strongest talents. I'm not that fab with backgrounds and lighting yet - the important things. ^^:
7. Is there a piece of art that you think is your absolute best so far? Would you link it for us?
I think that, generally, each piece I draw is better than the last. Currently I'm quite pleased with my recent picture of Harry and his Golden Snitch - [ here ].
8. What (or who) inspires you in Fandom?
Are we listing people? Maybe I won't list people…my cage match was pretty long… Ah, well, other artists, video games, watching Stargate, Treble Charger music, canon moments, bits of text, brilliant ideas, the marauders, song snippets, the crack that sprouts from people's brains, comics, the XMen, dialogue, art history videos, prompts, watercolours, twins, and, uh, characters with red hair.
9. Fanfic writers often say the best compliment they can get for their stories is unsolicited fanart. What would you consider the highest form of compliment for your fanart?
When someone writes fic for it? Ooh! Or if I get honest-to-goodness critique, whether they like it or not.
10. Are you excited about being in the Games this year?
WOO HOO. ♥
Thank you, r0sivan! Stay tuned for more Champion Interviews, and some Opening Games Surprises!
