Snape has survived his wounds and is slowly but surely recovering – yeah! He’s living peacefully and brewing contentedly – yeah! He’s exchanging correspondence with E, giving and receiving helpful advice – yeah! He’s going to be potions master and head of Slytherin again (with a fifteen percent increase in salary and double the yearly bonus – yeah! He finds out E is in fact Harry Potter and stops writing to him – boo!
Things were going so nicely until that point. ::sighs::
It's a mistake. The parchment catches the morning sunlight, drawing his eye, resurrecting the words again and again. I don't know what I've done, but I'm sorry. Please, tell me, yell at me if you like, but please, I can't do this without you.
I felt sorry for poor Harry, desperately trying to figure out why Snape has stopped replying.
I enjoyed Snape’s slow thaw in his regard for Harry, seeing him in a new light and interacting with him during the potions lessons. The best part is when they run into each other in the faculty garden with the koi and the snapdragons. The story of the phoenix being part dragon had me chuckling.
Harry reacted as expected when he found out he’d been corresponding with Snape of all people. But he recovered nicely and was fair-minded.
"For the last few months, you've been everything to me. Do you know that? Do you have any idea? I got out of St. Mungo's because of you, I came back to school because of you, I stayed because of you. You've been my closest friend, and I don't want to lose that. I know it's selfish, and maybe I don't deserve it, but I'm begging your forgiveness because I need you in my life. Please?"
I loved Harry’s earnest words, so beautifully stated. And Severus finally lowers his guard and allows someone into his trust.
The ending was wonderful!
Twit was quite a cheeky and endearing owl. He injected nice moments of humor into the story. I enjoyed his antics enormously. The name Twit suits the lil critter so much better than Mercury. :D I was glad when Twit forgave Snape for being mean to him.
