TEAM DRAGON ENTRY: Amand_r "The (Un)Professional"
Title: The (Un)Professional
Author: [info]amand_r
Team: Dragon
Genres: Postwar, Humor/Crackfic
Prompt: Anniversary
Ratings/Warnings/Kinks: Rated NC-17. *Contains graphic violence. Oh, and some canonically dead people are not so very much dead. Is that a warning?*
Word Count: 42,363
Summary: "Sir, it's out of my hands. The gods want you to go to your Hogwarts reunion, and they want you to delete someone while you're there."
A/N: This is a "frusion" of Harry Potter and the film Grosse Pointe Blank. One need not have seen the film to read the story, but if you have, you will note key similarities and some cribbed dialogue. And one Shawn of the Dead reference (possibly my favorite bit), along with a modified Monty Python line. Credits at the end of the film story. Also (Also?! Geez!), this is AU for pretty much obvious reasons.
Credits: Thanks to [info]jadzialoveand [info]joanwilder for the spectacular betas. Late at night. In teh dark. With your mom.

Hee, you know much as I loved the fic (which I did, in spades) the thing that cracked me up the most was the end notes.

I was convinced for half of the fic that Snape was Harry's rival, especially when I initially found out about Harry leaving. Umbridge was much more amusing though, I never would have guessed.

Hee Snape taking out a contract on himself, and numbering/lettering issues and Fred/George/Angelina (for that I love you very much).

Wow, those end notes are popular! I should have expanded them.

I am glad that you liked the story, and I thank you for leaving such nice comments! (And that you liked Fred/Angelina/George. OT3!)

I love seeing the twins in a threesome, and Angelina's character here is just the perfect balance for them - all sassy and cheeky.

Most black market wands are shoddily constructed with substandard materials in factories in Taiwan.

*cough* I'm from Taiwan *cough* Never mind... *explodes*

Sorry. It's a standard cliche here.

What a great recasting of Grosse Pointe onto HPdom! You really did a nice job of retaining the dark humor of Cusak's script, such as Harry trying to explain how he thinks things with Severus can work out while they're being shot at. Also, thanks for making the female characters, as in Angelina and Hermione, interesting and likable!

Humour, amazing dialogue, vivid descriptions, lots of fun references, and Harry/Glock! heh.
Well done, teamie!

(was there also a Fidler on the Roof quote in there too? "There is no other hand!")

Wonderful melding of the two universes. I really enjoyed this!

Hah! This was so much fun! Excellent take on Grosse Pointe Blank. I guffawed. I chortled. I wheezed. I scared my cats. In case it's not clear, I really enjoyed this!

Cannot even begin to tell you how much I LOVED this story. The characterizations were all spot on. Harry's internal dialogue (trialogue?) was amazing, Snape's surprise was perfect, Angelina was marvelous...I could go on forever and not say everything. Truly an amazing, well-plotted, perfectly characterized story! Well, well, well done indeed!!!

You should see the film. It rules.

Thanks for reviewing! I didn't get this comment earlier. I'm glad you liked it, though!

I'm late reading this, but better late than never. This whole thing is made of an AWFUL lot of awesome. I freaking love the idea of wizards brandishing two wands in public. Thank you for breaking the wizarding world in such a fabulous way.

I was wondering why the word "Trogdor" rung such a weird, 2-dimensional animated bell in my head, and finally hit google for it. LOL. You are win.

When I first read this review, I wasn't seeing it right, and I thought you said it was awful. Whoops! Awful lot of awesome is much better!

Trogdor is my contribution to our Team Dragon theme. And of course. He rules. Very hard.

Thanks for reviewing! Hee!

The Winchester!

I loved how unique and unexpected the plot was in this story. I especially liked how Harry and Snape were together, but broke up, but then ended up together again. Its very rare in the fandom, I think.

Also, I thank you dearly for the "Shawn of the Dead" reference. As soon as Ron suggested the Winchester, I knew they were going to talk about the gun being loaded or not. It was perfect.

YAY FOR SHAWN OF THE DEAD!

I thought about putting a line in there about Big Al saying dogs can't look up, but I just thought that'd be overkill.

I'm so glad that you liked the story! Hee!

This is absolutely delightful! You write the best plotty fics--thoroughly enjoyable. I loved the little Luna cameo, and poor Phineas as Harry's unwilling therapist! (And now I can't stop thinking about John Cusack as "older Harry." Compelling!)

Ha! Finally, read this. I love Grosse Point Blank and it was so much fun reading this with the film in mind. Wonderful job adapting it. I love what Snape's role in this ended up being. I even enjoyed Ron which might be a first for me. Cheers!
