TEAM DRAGON ENTRY: Svartalfur "Polyjuice Pertinacity or The Tale of the Auror and the Whore"
Title: Polyjuice Pertinacity or The Tale of the Auror and the Whore
Author: Anders Svartalfurinn ([info]svartalfur)
Team: Dragon
Genre: Postwar
Prompts: Career Change, Infidelity.
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: NC-17. Canon compliant except for the epilogue. (Snape lives!)* Infidelity, cross-dressing, smoking, abuse of potions and alcohol. References to pop culture (movies).*
Word Count: ~ 22,000
Summary: Harry and Snape's jobs collide.
A/N: This fic is a tribute to Billy Wilder's Irma la Douce. I shamelessly stole the idea and great chunks of the plot. Yet, Severus isn't sweet, Knockturn Alley isn't Paris, and, most importantly, there are no dragons in Wilder's comedies, and so the story turned out to have a mind of its own.

Huge thanks to my amazing betas, [info]klynie1 (without you I'd have seen neither wood nor trees), [info]joanwilder and [info]angela_snape. Thank you to our awesome El Capitane, [info]joanwilder, and my fellow Dragons for inspiration and support. Last but most definitely not least, a blazing ROAAARRRRR to [info]djin7 and the mods for organising this wonderful fest. Thank you for all the hard work.

No phoenixes were harmed in the making of this fic.

I loved it! Adored your Harry Looks like an overgrown chicken to me., snickered at the snarkiness of your Snape and melted into goo at the heat generated between the two! Excellent!

I enjoyed this very much! Loved the slyly-inserted movie humour and great magical details -- especially the Dragon/Phoenix ales and the elevator with a bedroom voice and a tendency to gossip. :)

Also, it amused me that for once Ginny is a literal villain. Hee. And that there was the standard "bwahahaha, let me gloat about my victory and offer self-congratulatory exposition" speech from that quarter.

Excellent job!

Goodness me! I'm just about speechless. Every time I thought I had it figured out you threw another twist in. I don't think I've ever read a fic like this before! You've a lovely, filthy mind. *g*

This is an unusual and intriguingly different Snarry to the ones I'm used to reading, and I enjoyed it a lot. I had to think quite hard to keep track of everything, but it was so interesting that it wasn't a chore.

I'm not keen on cross-dressing!whore!Severus, so it's a measure of your clever plot and good writing that I couldn't stop reading.

I loved the little phoenixes and dragons on the bottles; and the way Harry kept changing back and forth between himself and Arthur was a good touch.

I loved the ending ... that was realistic and satisfying as well.

Lots to think about!

This has made my Saturday, waking up to your story!

I've only read the first few paragraphs so far, but just had to leave a comment - it's drawn me in already, and my planned gardening will just have to wait :)

Back later!

You already know this, but I have to tell you again - I love this story! It's such a kaleidoscope of farce and betrayal and true love. I got sucked in yet again by the twisty, intricate plot and Harry's desperate love (and I'm still blown away by the way wards and love work in this, the analogy you've created with it). Complex, unique, intelligent, funny and romantic. Plus some of the best visuals I've ever seen written - the imagery is so vivid. *happy sigh*

I'm always wary of infidelity but this fic was awesome. So many twists and turns, it deserves a re-read to see what I missed. I love the way Harry was undone whenever he caught sight of the green stockings on Severus, even just a hint of it. Ginny and Draco teamed up was a riot-their clothing killed me. Harry randomly turning into Arthur was too funny (nice to see Stan again too). And then after all of that, a happy ending! Brilliant.

What an excellent, excellent fic. It kept me thinking throughout! There were too many moments that I loved to mention but, really, the little detail of Harry always attacking the Phoenix on the label amused me to no end. Good show, darlin'!

I'm usually wary of infidelity fics, so I had to check for a happy ending before I read the story. I'm glad I read it all because I enjoyed it very much, especially the bottle labels and Ulrich the Dragon.

This is brilliant! I loved every twist and turn of the plot, the fact that both Harry and Severus were betraying each other in the things that they do, yet simultaneously "faithful" in their own strange ways. Toward the end I was afraid that Severus had been ruthlessly using Harry all along, but then the little detail that the cellar wards let Harry through made me hopeful once again :)

Great job!

Anders, wow! Severus as the sexy prostitute in green...what an image. I'm so glad they ended up in a loving (if tenuous) situation at the end--the suspense and jealousy running throughout was fantastic! I've got a huge weakness for that kind of stuff in fic ;) and I admit my favorite scene was probably the one where Harry gives in to Jimmy--and Severus finds them together. *shivers*

Awesome job. *claps*

What a story! So down and dirty. Lies within lies, deceptions within deceptions, and a whole lot of smutty stuff. So convoluted it was! I feel somewhat dazed after reading it. Very well-written with lots of intrigue and double-dealing, which I found very engrossing. This story was chockfull of interesting developments and surprising turns of events. I was relieved at the ending because, despite all the dramadramadrama, Harry and Snape were happy and together, which, for me, is always a GOOD THING. Well done!

First of all, I adore Irma La Douce.

And I loved these lines:

A low growl was the only answer. When Harry pushed open the door, he was met by a sight that took his breath away and made his knees weak. Severus Snape was lying on the bed, naked except for one silk stocking. The unstockinged leg high in the air, he was busy slipping the second stocking over his toes. Harry watched in awe as Severus smoothed the green silk over his high instep and adjusted the heel. Severus's body was completely clean-shaven but for a small triangle of hair pointing down at his cock, and the deep green material was a great contrast to his pale skin. While Severus slowly rolled the stocking up his leg, Harry sat down on the edge of the bed and pressed a kiss to the other leg, enjoying the softness of the silk and the even softer skin.

Most people END with HOT; you BEGAN!

"Camilla and Prince Charles as bank robbers." Harry couldn't suppress a snicker. "Priceless."He wondered if Severus's stockings had the same effect on him as Kryptonite had on Superman.

Great comparison!

"Kisses are for lovers and traitors," he said. "Whores are neither."

OUCH! (That traitors lines...you expect your readers to be literate, eh?)

The lift told Harry that Irma and Nestor were having make-up sex between the fourth and fifth floors,

Snicker...

DAVID &VICTORIA BECKHAM: BANKROBBERY

No, no. La 'Posh' would never stoop to something so unoriginal. This shoud have told the authorities that they were dealing with the Magical.

"Happen to have a light, Nameless?"

The Nameless gods, the Nameles detective...and now the Nameless dragon!

A jet of fire hit the fag and consumed it. The dragon was so skilled that it didn't scorch a single hair of Harry's.

Love your inclusion of dragons. Very appropriate for Team Dragon!

Malfoy looked defiant, but it was Ginny who spoke. "It was my idea," she said, holding her head high. "I've read some interesting Muggle novels. They were a bit like manuals, really."

Like CSI and all those other forensic shows on TV.
And I love that GINNY is the brains of the outfit!

Of course. I planned everything out. Paul McCartney and Heather Mills, Cherie and Tony Blair, Victoria and David Beckham, Condoleezza Rice and George Bush -"

"That was an ugly one," Draco said and shuddered.

I did too even before I got to Draco's part.

"A badly aimed Accio," Ginny said. "She's just an unknown Muggle children's book author who happened to stand between me and my target. I intend to make her famous, though."

LOL! Does this make her canon?

He downed the Firewhisky and cast Healing Spells on his fingers and lips.

Oh. I had never thought of Firewisky in that way...but it so makes sense. Bravo!

Dotty hissed at Severus from the top of Jimmy's head.

Love her too.

"Ulrich von Lichtenstein is an unusual name for a dragon," Severus said.

"He's the hero of one of my favourite movies, A Knight's Tale," Harry said. "Don't you like it?"

I shrieked! Aloud, even!

Wonderful story with lots of little gems for the fan.

This is lovely. I've never read any of your fic before, as it seems to me that you started posting fic around the time I was falling into a new fandom about a year ago. But I decided to give a games fic a go and saw yours was up, so here I am. I love that you can really feel the almost helpless passion between them, the way that love twists and shimmies in unpleasant ways and makes them do things they might not otherwise do. It's the kind of bond between them that Snarry must have, nothing lukewarm in it. You have such a great push-pull here, and all the little details not only bring your world to life but also add up into clues for Harry (and us) to piece together along with him.

I've read most of Team Dragon's entries, one way or another, and this is one of my top three favorites. I love the way you write; it's a rare thing to find, that a story pulls you along, rich with detail so that you can see the colors, sense texture, empathize with characters, and not really notice the writing itself, which has just become a pure vehicle.

The premise isn't one I'd seek out--but my god, did you make it work. I bought the circumstances--Snape's dilemma, Harry's obsession and his deterioration to less than savory means, and oh how I loved that Snape caught him at it. The dragons and phoenix gags made me smile, as did the other 'ladies' of Knockturn Alley, and I read about Draco and Ginny with unfettered glee. I was so happy to see Stan, Percy and Arthur here too.

You captured my heart and mind from the very first paragraph to the end. The first time I read it I had to continually go back and 'remind' myself that I was proofing, as the story put me on auto-pilot and made me forget everything but the world you'd created.

Kudos on a fantastic story. You are DRAGON PAR EXCELLENCE, ANDERS!!! ROARRR!!!

"A badly aimed Accio," Ginny said. "She's just an unknown Muggle children's book author who happened to stand between me and my target. I intend to make her famous, though."

"I wish you would abandon that plan," Malfoy said. "She isn't good for you. Sometimes I think she's about to completely take you over."

There are several meta!humorous moments in your story, but this one is my favorite. :D *admires your unusual take on Snarry*
