SIGN UP POST FOR 2008 WINTER AUTHOR GAMES
IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ FIRST:
Teams will be assigned within two days of the closing of this post. Instructions on how to join your team comms and when the Genre(s) and Prompt(s) are to be chosen will be confirmed in an email.This Sign Up Post will be open until Midnight (PST) Thursday, January 17th, 2008.NOW CLOSED, THANK YOU.
You DO NOT need an Insane Journal account to participate.
The DUE DATE for fic is April 13, 2008. Minimum wordcount is 2000 words.
You must be 18 or older to either play in the Games, or to join as a member (for any locked posts).
Please consider the following carefully before signing up:
What is required of Participants!
The Snarry Games looks for the following in their Champions:
1. Teamwork.
This is NOT an individual event - participants will be part of teams, which will be assigned within two days of the close of the Sign Up Post. Once you are assigned to a team you will receive instructions via email on how to join your team comms and when your Genre(s) and Prompt(s) are to be chosen. To be part of these teams you will need to want to be involved - perhaps offer to beta, provide support, take part in team strategy, pimp your team's stories, or support them by commenting.
2. Commitment.
Competition in the Snarry Games is a BIG commitment. Please think carefully about whether you are prepared to make this commitment before signing up. The output of this fest is judged by the reading audience. As part of your team, your contribution directly affects your team's performance and their success. We are seeking participants who want to work together to strive to produce the BEST they possibly can in a cooperative environment. Your team wants a Gold Medal effort.
3. Communication.
This cannot be stressed enough. The mods are all friendly, supportive people who want to make this Games a fun and successful activity for EVERYONE involved. Your team members will also want to work with you and seek your active input throughout the fest. Everyone will be expected to respect each other, as well as the mods, and appreciate that we're all human with a lot of time and effort invested in making this fest a success.
Not everyone works well within this kind of fest structure. If you have any doubts about your commitment, capacity to work with a team, dedication to producing your best, or the willingness to communicate in a mature and constructive fashion, THIS IS PROBABLY NOT THE FEST FOR YOU.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
If you have dropped out of a Snarry Games previously, you will not be eligible for the sign ups unless you have received dispensation from the maintainer,
There will be a reasonable cap for the teams. Should sign-ups go over that cap, including the Alternates/Pinch hitters, we will have no choice but to do a lottery. We will tell you that cap only after we close the sign up post.
(We had 10 Alternates for the 2007 Winter Author Games, and every single one was called into action.)
