1. Now that the final word has been penned, what is your favourite canon Snape moment from all seven books? Harry? Snarry? Oh geez, well for Snape, lets go with introductions, or near intros anyway. For my money, no one scene sums him up better than his first class period. I think his first moments teaching DADA come close, but the potions scene is still better. I'll go with that as my favorite Snarry scene as well, because he also pretty much lets Harry know what it's gonna be like the next 7 years.
As for Harry, saving Pettigrew . . . because I'm not biased at all nope nope.
No really it was heroic, and Harry didn't need to do that; in fact, he had every reason in the world *not* to do that and no one really would have thought badly of him, but he still saved better, which really speak to Harry's character, so that's my favorite Harry scene.
And Snape was kinda there.
In an unconscious way.
2. As we all know, despite being married and with children, Harry does in fact have Snape locked somewhere in his basement. The real question is this: Inferius!Snape or Ghost!Snape? Or...? Ghost!Snape. Oh c'mon, can't you just see ghost Snape haunting the Potters . . Getting revenge on Harry by waking the children at night and causing the pipes to squeak . . . and I'm not even touching bedroom possibilities.
3. At the end of it all, does Snarry still make your heart beat? What does the future hold for the Snarry Fandom?
Ack ummm to be honest, I've never been much in the Snarry fandom. Just ummm half my LJ f'list is in the fandom so I'm exposed.
A lot.
A WHOLE lot.
I think I'll do Snarry pictures here and there. I've done a few, I see no reason why I'd not do a few more.
4. Severus Snape: Hopeless or heartless? Heartless. Sort of.
Hopeless for Lily, but IMHO rather heartless with Harry. I think it was Harry's bum luck to look more like Dad than Mom.
5. Did Book Seven change your opinion of the pairing? No, I always thought it was more fanon than canon and book 7 still had me think it was more fanon than canon . . . but no with more canonicle non-con possibilities and Snape saying the way wrong name while looking into Harry's eyes.
I think though, after book 7, well I'm not so much sure that Snape needed a life debt to protect Harry. I think he'd have done that anyway, just because Harry was Lily's.
6. What is one scene you wished you could have read, one that JKR clearly forgot in Book 7? The one where Peter does something in Snape's house, some scene to give us SOME POINT to the two of them being together.
. . .
It would never have worked but seeing Snape in charge of the school *while* Harry was there woulda made for some interesting confrontations.
7. What motivates you to be creative? Oh man, well in fandom, I actually think it's tied somewhat to fanfiction. The more fanfics I read, the more outside of canon I think, so I'm more likely to come up with art ideas.
As far as art in general goes, seeing other people being creative, whether online, in artbooks, on TV, can motivate me, especially if I'm in a funk. Literature is also a great motivator, as is just the desire to draw itself.
8. The latest restrictions on art at Livejournal have affected many fanartists in many fandoms. How has it affected you?
Ummmm to be honest . . . not that much. Most of my stuff is G-PG, unless it's Battlestar Galactica, and LJ doesn’t seem to care what two 30-year old men do with scarves in a bed. Also probably no religious not jobs are searching out BSG art and flinging it in front of LJ.
It actually affected my none fandom art more. I did a series about how adults view children exploring their sexuality, which can look a lot like Child Porn in some cases, but I left the works I had up up and unlocked, seeing as how it was un-restricted in a gallery, so I figure I'll fight that if I need to, but I don't see it happening. I think the HP was a reaction to the name "Harry Potter" which the random person on the street thinks is still about 11 year olds and missed the "growing up each book" bit.
9. Do you have a favourite piece of work (any subject) you wish to share with our viewers? Can you link it for us?
Tom Riddle -Work Safe:I like it because it's a good combination of my fanart and none-fanart and 'cause it came out way more friggen awesome than I thought it would!
10. Are you excited about being in the Games this year? Yeah. I mentioned Snarry wasn't my usual haunt, so I look forward to this as a way to push my fandom limits and get out of some of my fandom art ruts. This year also, it's helping me stay in touch with fandom, and it's just such an awesome collection or art I'm excited to be a part of it!
Thank you, Ani Bester! Stay tuned for more interviews.
