"That's awesome," Gwen said. She probably could've guessed that Carol liked the Runaways because Carol seemed like the kind of person who'd have great taste in music just because she seemed pretty cool anyway. It amused her that Natasha was basically trolling her about the band. There'd been a time when Gwen thought she and the other Mary Janes might get to a point where they could each be someone's favorite band member when they started to really pick up in their popularity. But those days were pretty much over, at least for Gwen. They'd graciously (but begrudgingly) kept her in the band but not because they were happy about it. And Gwen still hadn't really been able to commit to anything. And now she was in Starklandia, so... That thought had pretty much faded into a distant memory.
"I'm always down to throw some beats but yeah, a band would be more fun to listen to than just drums," she said. "I'm showing Sirius Black how to play, and Mr. Stark whenever he wants. I can teach you too. Or I can play a beat and you can sing to it. I bet you sound better than you think." Natasha had kind of a raspy voice that was probably pretty great when she sang. "It was kind of like therapy for me for a while; the drumming, I mean. A way to kind of tune out the rest of the world but be in a steady place because you know, I had to keep the beat. I was the backbone of what we were playing. I liked that. It felt good, like I was grounded and not slinging webs and flying all over the place trying to stay alive. I dunno if that makes sense at all." She laughed. "But for me it did. I don't need it as much here, I don't think. So it's more like a hobby than a lifeline."
