March Challenge: Dumbledore, Power, and Love

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I've already covered some of my thoughts on Dumbledore in my essay for the February challenge on Snape and Love, but I'll try to give a more comprehensive view here. I'll start off with my initial impression of Dumbledore when I first started reading the books: like many other readers, I accepted the outward image we were presented with, of Dumbledore as the kindly old mentor. Because he befriended Harry, I thought that he cared about all his students in the same manner, although perhaps he did not spend as much one-on-one time with them. Still, it never would have occurred to me that kindly old Dumbledore might only have befriended Harry because he is "the Boy Who Lived".

You Have Used Me: Severus Snape, Albus Dumbledore, Betrayal and Trust

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

by Bohemianspirit

In considering the relationship between Severus Snape and Albus Dumbledore, two things become clear: Severus trusted Dumbledore, and Dumbledore betrayed that trust, time and again. Over the long term, Dumbledore took advantage of that trust to use Severus for his own ends.

March Challenge -- Snape and Dumbledore

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

JK Rowling has said that Albus Dumbledore was "the epitome of goodness." In the most recent interview as of this writing, she said he was "an innately good man."

An extreme minority report – just so you know )

The March Challenge

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Snape and Dumbledore. About time, too, don't you think?

Write meta or creative meta about how Severus was treated by Dumbledore, how he responded. What was the history between them? Did they like each other or didn't they? Did Severus need the harsh treatment he got, or would some help and understanding have been better? In which way did Dumbledore's treatment of Severus influence later events? And so on. I'm sure you have enough ideas of your own.

Don't forget to help Severus take the register and introduce yourself. It gives us a 'feel' for each other, why we are in this community/asylum, which comes in handy when things get heated.

And, I look forward to your house warming party contribution. Pick a theme of choice and surprise us. There is no set date, but it should end around March 15. If things are going strong then, we can also keep it up through all of the month. So where are your posts? oO

If I failed to reply to your posts, I'm sorry. I'm so busy at the moment that I need a snorkle to get some air.

From next month on, we'll have two challenges for a while. A new one, and a 'revisited'. October Challenge Revisited or such. It's for the new people on Insane Journal, or those who missed out on the old challenges. So we'll call them up again for a month.

And now keep these posts coming. :)
