Summer Fest Fic: The Werewolf Jamboree

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
This is actually my second Summer Fest entry! I was only required to write one story for [info]the_bitter_word , but I was torn between two pieces of art, so I decided to do them both. (The first entry can be found starting here.) Consider it a bonus, no extra charge! ;-)

Title: The Werewolf Jamboree
Author: [info]geri_chan
Pairings: Snape/Lupin
Rating: PG
Word count: 6,540 (not counting afterword)
Disclaimer: No money is being made off this story; consider it a little wish fulfillment on my part.

Summary: Written for Snapedom's Summer Fest exchange, and based on [info]the_bitter_word's art, The Annual Werewolf Jamboree and Bake-Off. Snape and Lupin are invited to the Werewolf Jamboree and Bake-Off.

Author's notes: This is a stand-alone fic, and not part of my Always series. Takes place post-war, using some canon elements, although I've twisted them around to suit my needs. For the purposes of this story, it is assumed that the werewolves transform into a hybrid wolf-humanoid form during the full moon, rather than a normal wolf.

Summer Fest Fic: Professor Grunge

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Here's a little bonus fic for the Summer Fest. My "official" exchange fic is progressing nicely; meanwhile, this one's for the entire Underground. It was originally going to be just a short riff on the joke that inspired it, but it morphed into a larger and slightly satirical story of Escape from Hogwarts. ;-)

Title: Professor Grunge
Author: [info]bohemianspirit
Genre: AU, Satire, Gen
Main Character: Severus
Rating: PG-13, for language

Summary: Upon graduating from Hogwarts, Severus pursues an employment opportunity in the northwestern United States, with somewhat unexpected results.

Notes: Yet another variation on the Infinite Possibilities of the Life of Schroedinger's Snape. ;-) Crack, maybe. Definitely cracked. And cracking. Written for the Snapedom Summer Fest 2008 and dedicated to Sev's Underground. Rock on!

WARNING!!! WARNING!!! Severus Snape gets to have a HAPPY LIFE!!!

Don't say I didn't warn you.

Fic (PG) Snape/Lupin

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I had not signed up for [info]snapedom's Summer Fest, but I had been toying with this little ficlet for a while.  It is un-beta'd, and a bit weird.  My prompt/bunny was [info]the_bitter_word's lovely S.N.A.P.E. art contest entry:  The Annual Werewolf Jamboree and Bake-Off

Title: Lunacy
Author: Severed Lies
Word Count: 921
Rating: PG
Pairing: Severus Snape/ Remus Lupin
Disclaimer:  Not mine, never was, never will be.

Summer Fest Fic: The Return of the Slytherins, Part 5

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Title: The Return of the Slytherins, Part 5 (Epilogue + story meta)
Author: [info]geri_chan
Pairings: Gen, but with a few slashy hints if you look at it the right way.
Rating: PG-13
Word count: ~19,420 total (~3260 for this part)
Disclaimer: No money is being made off this story; consider it a little wish fulfillment on my part.

Summary: Written for [info]snapedom's Summer Fest exchange, and based on [info]the_bitter_word's art, Severus Crossing the Hogwarts Lake. Snape survives Nagini's attack, and returns to fight in the battle at Hogwarts--and is surprised when his Slytherins want to join him.

Author's note: For readers of my Snupin stories, the Theodore and Blaise here are based on the canon version of the characters, not the the Theo and Blaise from the Always series, although I did borrow the character of Serafina Avery to help round out the Slytherins. Hope that doesn't confuse anyone.

Hi, here is my first entry for Summer Fest! (I'm only required to write one, but I fell in love with two of [info]the_bitter_word's pieces of art, so I'm going to try and complete two entries.) I had so much fun writing this, and I hope you enjoy it! ^_^

Summer Fest Update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Everyone knows about their assignments now.
If you need help, mail me or post here.
If you have questions, mail me or post here.
Likewise if you have complaints or just want to tell me a joke.

If anyone is in need of a beta reader: [info]cardigirl has offered to beta-pinch-hit.

Apart from that, you all seem to have fun with the fest and the discussions. That makes Severus rather mellow. ;)

The Summer Fest Assignments

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
We have 15 entries, and you all are so versatile, you're almost making my job here too easy. I hope I found everyone, if I overlooked someone, please yell at once.

Please keep in mind that you are supposed to communicate to find out what you can do for each other. I didn't check or ask for email adresses, please contact each other. I'd only try to help if there are problems.

If you find that you cannot work with each other, please tell me privately at sylvanawoodATgooglemail.com. I then try to assign pinch hitters.

I made the assignments mostly on a first come-first assigned basis, but the gifts you want to receive were actually the most difficult to match, for the production of gifts you're all very versatile. I tried to make everyone reasonably well matched.

And... drumroll... here come the assignments. Under the cut. Read more... )

The summer fest again...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'll just thank all of you who signed up already without going to the individual posts. You all are offering such great gifts, there are wonderful ideas there. I'm really looking forward to what you all come up with.

I'll post the assignements early next week.

I won't sign up as a regular participant since I'll be a stand-by for pinch hitting of graphical stuff or a story, whatever is needed. I may get a gift out of it that way, too. ;)

We have 11 admissions up to now, if I'm not mistaken. There's room for more. Depending on how many we have by the end of the sign-up period, there may be a poll next week to decide if we allow late-comers.

Have a good weekend, everyone.

3rd Announcement: Grab a Banner and Pimp the Summer Fest

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Our wonderful Underground member [info]valady made some great banners for us. Take one, two or all three, display them proudly on your journal and link to snapedom. That's the best way to pimp the fest. If you are on other Snape-related asylums or communities, like Snarry, Snupin, Snermione, Snanyone - please ask the mods and pimp there, too.

About the Friday recs and more on the Fest

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
The overwhelming majority voted for the Friday recs to remain as they are, so that's what we'll do. I use this to remind you that meta and discussions in other places aren't part of the Friday recs, please post them when you see them.

We've had some more questions concerning the Fest. I added them to the Summer Fest Faq and post them here, too, under the cut: Read more... )

With all these deadlines and delays: I'm giving the fest a lot of time. My (naive) idea is that people will post their fic and art all summer and we have things to see and squee over, and give Severus a reason to smile. However, I am aware that most people only ever submit at the last moment (who, me?) – well, let's at least try.

I think the lower limit should be drabbles of 1000 words. And recognizable sketches (what are they called, drawbles?) by artists. From there you can go as refined as you wish.

I'll wait what you reply here, and then I'll post the announcement for the fest tomorrow, so I can send it to the newsletters. I would ask all of you to pimp it in the other asylums and communities, where you normally hang out. I'll be away for all of next week, be back from the fifth to the ninth, and away again until the eigteenth. In the meantime I have, at most, dial-up. I trust that you'll all keep an eye on the sign-upsfor me. ;)

The Summer Fest FAQ

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'll put this up in the form of a faq list and link it in the side bar, that way you know where to find it and I can edit it as we progress.
This isn't set in stone, I was throwing the idea at you. We'll see where it goes.
The Fests main goal would be to celebrate Severus and your own creativity. In exchange, you should get an illustration or a story out of it.

An idea for a Summer Fest

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I wanted to make a poll out of my question, but on second thought, I think a discussion will give us more information.

I had this idea over the weekend:

Most fanfic authors I know love to have one or more illustrations for their stories, but not every fanfic author is lucky enough to know a fan artist.

Do fan artists like stories about their art, too?

If we get enough fan artists interested, we could make a snapedom Summer fest, where we pair off artists and writers on a first come, first serve basis, with a few preferences. As usual, I'd like to keep all the work for you to do, so writers would have to provide PI accredited beta readers or just show us that they can provide good quality by telling us where they post.

This wouldn't be anonymous, and we'd have to figure out where we would host the products, but I have ideas how to do that.

You'd have a set date for putting your name and preferences in, and then you'd have all summer to write and paint/draw. Those who are finished, post, without a set 'posting now' date.  We'll have a deadline, after that things should be posted. I'm thinking of end of September for that. I don't want it to interfere with major Xmas fests or gift exchanges.

Those who go AWOL and don't give us a note that they can't finish (a note is enough, need not be a good excuse, just a note) will go on a list of shame and not participate in future events. Those who are 'orphaned' will get something by a pinch-hitter. We'll ask for pinch-hitters, too, when we ask for prompts.

There will be no prizes or awards, just the fun of doing something and getting something in return. Do you think that would interest you and other people in Snape-related ships? Would you help spread the word? Would you want to participate? Do you know fan artists and can ask them if that would be attractive to them at all?
