This ended up being bigger than I originally planned, so I'm putting it behind a cut.



The trickiest part of this was getting Severus to still look like Severus with a 1920s hairdo. I think maybe he looks more like F. Scott Fitzgerald with a big nose ;-) but I did my best.

Here is my first attempt. I’m going with Cathy and Heathcliff for Severus and Lily. I used one of Fritz Eicenberg’s wood engravings as a guide.

Though this was my first idea when the topic was announced, there was the similar theme from alisonven and I put off doing it. Eventually I decided to draw it anyway. If you think it appropriate to eliminate it from the contest, that is fine and I will certainly understand. It's just based on a couple of my Sev stories and my love of my ipod. My Sev is not enamoured by muggle things.

A little birdie told me that March's challenge is Snape and All Things Muggle, and I see that today is the last day of the challenge. I originally posted this pic on my LJ for its 3rd anniversary, but I was wondering if y'all might get a kick out of it too. It's entitled, "Addicted." I'll have to exclude myself from winning the challenge because this is a collaborative piece between me and my Hubby. Making pixelated art requires more patience than Potions, but the image came to me and, well, it just seemed perfect. ;-) (If you're not sure why, look up the asana on an introduction to yoga.) Deeper meanings aside, I just like the idea of Severus doing yoga. So there!

ETA: Created in good old-fashioned PaintShop Pro 5, which heretofore has been used solely for cut-and-paste iconage, using only a roller-ball mouse and my imagination.

Unable to draw so much as a straight line, I can't enter the Snape and the All Things Muggle challenge. So instead I thought I'd send my little "word picture" to the Friday recs. (At least, it's Friday over here in Australia!)

Dear fellow artists! Firstly, my thanks for the win on last month's SNARC contest: Snape's „Guilty Pleasures“. It has been great fun and I hope we can keep the high standard. So it is my turn to set this month's challenge, which I have decided will be:

Snape and „All Things Muggle“!




So, Snape is a halfblood right? and it seems there has not been much magic in Spinners End in all those years of his childhood.
Now let us explore Snapes relationship to the Muggle-world.
Does he use muggle-stuff at all or does he hate it?
Does he blend perfectly into an muggle surrounding or does he come over as freakish?
Does he collect toaster, power-cells and electric keddles like Arthur does?
Does he know how to drive a car or use a stamp?
Is he even (secretly) able to use muggle communication devices like phones and email?...

Draw a picture of what you think our beloved Potions Master might do, use or mishandle!
Remember that the humor is what counts, you don't need artistic skills to participate.
Use ArtPad or any other drawing program. And ahem no porn please!
You've got until the last day of the month to submit your ideas. I will pick the winner and will roughly orientate me on the number of comments an entry gets.
I still must think of an appropriate prize for the winner, which I will post later. I promise there will be one...

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who entered. The pictures were a joy to look at, and as I have mentioned before, it's going to be tough for me to pick a winner - truly.
Secondly, my thanks to those who took time to comment on the entries. All artists love feedback and it's always exciting to receive a comment on your art.
I have yet to decide who the winner is, but it will be in approx 24 hours.
In the meantime, here's a review of the entries so that we can see them all together. Of course, this is assuming I don't screw up the links, which I will undoubtedly do based on past efforts, so advance apologies for that. It doesn't help that I'm slightly tanked.
