July SNARC - Severus on Holiday

O.K., the artwork doesn't QUITE match the vision in my head--I fear I may have done worse things to Charity Burbage here than JKR did to her in canon--but close enough for jazz. This is based on my "Summer Holiday" series being posted this summer on snape100, in which Severus and Charity get away from Hogwarts for the summer of 1993 and fly somewhere overseas, probably Florida, if the kitschier-than-thou tourist attraction of Lizard World is any indication. They have lots of lizards, I hear, in Florida. And of course kitschy tourist attractions abound all over the 50 states here in America.

So, Severus wants to see Lizard World. Charity does not seem particularly enthused about Lizard World, but love (and self-interest) makes necessary compromises. ;-)



Really, I think the lizards are the best part of this artwork. I'm especially proud of the lizards.

  Those are awesome lizards. They are very engaging and curious. I see Sev interests them as much as they interest him.

    Thank you. Yeah, I really do like the lizards. ;-) Guess I'm as geeky as Severus. And the way they're staring at each other, I wonder if the lizards and Severus are practicing mutual Legilimency, or some other kind of mind-communication.

    Thank you. ;-) My main gripe is that Severus' arms turned out too short; the limitations of drawing with a herky-jerky rollerball mouse and trying to keep control of the line are really wearing thin on me. A drawing tablet with stylus is definitely in my future... silly for a rank amateur, but I like having fun!
    
    BTW, despite what I said about my rendition of Charity, I did like how her smirkingly tolerant expression turned out. ;-)

    Thank you! I spent most of July getting ready for Writercon, and then attending Writercon, so I was afraid I wasn't going to have this done by the deadline. But here it is. ;-) Lizards Rule.

  I love the expressions on both their faces, and the body language is intriguing. Those lizards are beautiful, and they certainly seem to be interested in Severus. *Charity's definitely going to have a wonderful night*

    Thank you! Charity's face ended up being a mixture of tolerant boredom and smug satisfaction with knowing that Sev's "thank you" will more than make up for the boredom.
    
    And I think she kinda likes to see him shed all of his masks and really lose himself in something he finds utterly fascinating.

    Oh, yes. Of all the things to do and places to see, Lizard World was definitely rock-bottom last on Charity's list, and Severus knows this, so she will certainly be richly rewarded for her patience with him. Not that he minds terribly the prospect of rewarding her. :-D
