Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
I've just read that it supposed to be CHILDRENs-book "literary" snape - so I draw another one and hope it is ok...
Well, its not actually funny but Snape often reminded me of "The Brave Tin Soldier" out of the old fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson...

and this time I saved the link to the work in process ;)

  • This is just excellent, and somehow surprisingly moving. It suits Sev perfectly! It is as if it the best he thinks of himself, his secret pride that it does not matter if others recognise. Guess what? I'm adding it to 'memories!'
    • never give up! never surrender! --- yep he is doing his duty stoical till the end --- *sigh*
  • Awwwwww, lovely!
  • This is a fabulous entry, for a very touching story.

(The contest is for all fiction, not just children's literature. Oh, well -- two entries!)

    • thanks for posting the link to the story - it really is touching---

two entries??? I'm afrait I come over as eager as Hermione...
  • How profoundly moving...
  • Wonderful and touching idea! Perfectly fitting. You won my heart.
    • oh thanks!
its so much Severus with his big heart under a hard tin-surface...

  • Oh my. That story never fails to make me cry at the end.
    • I hope this are cathartic tears... thanks for your comment
  • That was quite touching. I never thought of that Snape in relation to that story, but it's a lovely comparison.
    • thank you! I had this thought when pondering over Snapes last encounter with the dark lord...

  • That is a perfect quote for Severus.

And don't worry about being funny. I think most of our entries this month are more thought-provoking than humor-oriented. Glad I'm not the one who has to choose a "winner," because as far as I'm concerned all of the entries WIN. :-D
    • That's pretty much how I feel, too. *panic*
    • thanks for your comment
      I don't want her job ;)
its so hard to pick a winner (I still think we should make some kind of voting - but how?)

  • For a childrens story, that is awfully sad. Great parallel with Severus/Lily. I love the inquisitive mouse and Severus' thoughts of the lovely ballerina. So poignant and so Severus!
    • andersens fairy tale are all very sad and there is never a shugary happy ending - I didn't liked them as kid, but I do now... and yes its so much Severus *sniff*
  • Awwww, this is strangely endearing and very fitting as all the others have said! You got right into the heart of who Severus is. My favourite! *mems*
    • oh thanks very much :)
I was pondering a lot about the professor (tsk what a surprise, thats me adressing the obvious, what else am I still doing here) I think the describtion as the "tin soldier" fits more for Rickmans "movie-snape" (stoic, calm, mask-like face etc.) then for the book-snape (who looses his temper quiet often) ---
  • This is really beautiful and very fitting for Severus. I like the idea very much.
