All Things Muggle - March, Snape Art Contest

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
Belated. I sincerely apologise.

You can view it as it was drawn HERE!

Though this was my first idea when the topic was announced, there was the similar theme from [info]alisonven and I put off doing it. Eventually I decided to draw it anyway. If you think it appropriate to eliminate it from the contest, that is fine and I will certainly understand. It's just based on a couple of my Sev stories and my love of my ipod. My Sev is not enamoured by muggle things.
  • I’m glad you drew it anyway, even if it might not make the contest. Has the new challenge been posted? I am also assuming that the 1979 Sev is holding one of these:

    • Yes! Well, very close. It is the cheaper model without the fold-out wings. My Sev's dad gave it to him from a boot-sale and he kept it secret from his mother and Slytherin friends because it was a muggle thing.

There is no new challenge yet, because the winner of this sets the next challenge. I am naughty and late.
    • The deadline was extended through this weekend, so this one still makes it in time. ;-)
  • I love it!!! the young, punk Sev, and the older, blissed out ipod-Snape. lol...
is that a Walkman he has in 1979? (I think I got my first Walkman in 1980)

    NICE job with artPad, btw.
    • Aw, thank you so much! I have Sev as a punk in 1979. It is a transistor radio. Though it is a radio, it is not very punk. It is a ladybug...
  • I can see Severus listening to Linkin Park. Not my style, but my son used to listen to them when he was in high school, and there was one song in particular that struck me--something about woundedness, you probably know it better than I. Anyway, very angsty for wallowing in old memories when the door is closed and no one's looking.

And great job on the art! I don't remember ladybug transistor radios in the 70s, but I do remember a lot of "pop" culture shapes, like yellow smiley faces. Groovy.
    • Aw. My friend said that Linkin Park is the Clash of the 2000's. Angry/angsty teen music, and Sev still likes it for wallowing in memories, yes, and because something in it still suits him, expresses something for him.

Thank you so much! It took a long time because the site was lagging in the midst of brushstrokes. but artpad is fun! I must comment on the other pictures! I loved the yoga one, as in your icon. 8^)

He may also have been a fan of disco, and the BeeGees (or as they're known in the Wizarding World, the "HeeBeeGeeBees"!)
Ha, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive ...
    ;D

    • Sev: *offers free heebeegeebee to all comers* heheheh.
    • Or ABBA. :-D I have this mental (in more ways than one) image of Severus diggin' the Dancing Queen, spinning around his room and singing along in utter nerdliness.

Because, you know, the more badass they want to appear to the world, the more mushy and dorky they are at heart. ;-)
      • Oh that is a squeal-worthy image. :-) ABBA for sure. While at Hogwarts he's all "I'm so BADASS!"

Of course, it's not advisable to let Sev HEAR you calling him mushy and dorky (that WOULD be mental)...but yeah. I can also see him as being a bit of a romantic at heart, especially later on. You know that song "She" by Elvis Costello? I can see that being on his iPod, along with the soundtrack to Sleepless in Seattle. Secretly, mind you - not even Voldemort armed with a herd of wild hippogriffs could drag THAT admission out of him.

Seriously, though, you ought to write a one-shot of your little "mental image." It would be hilarious, and adorable.
  • I think great music crosses all cultural boundaries. I'm glad to see Severus agrees!

    Wonderful painting.

  • Haha, I love it! Such a cute picture!
  • The Clash, totally. Linkin Park, eh, I dunno... :)
