Well over a year ago, I read a very funny, well-written Snape-centric. The plot was, three sets of Muggle parents have refused to acknowledge their scion's Hogwarts letter, and a certain Head of House is sent out to make sure that the students in question do attend.
The first set of parents is religious, with, um, pronounced concerns that "witchcraft" implies that their son has sold his soul to the Devil. The second is a biker dad who's utterly willing to use violence to keep his son from being claimed and corrupted by some weirdo pansies. The third is a drug-addict widow who'd sell her daughter for sex if it keeps her drug flow unperturbed....
Professor Snape deals appropriately, and utterly ruthlessly, with each set of concerns.
(Um, you do understand that when I say "ruthlessly," I mean to imply that honesty with the Muggle parents isn't tops on his llst of priorities?)
