This is an AU story set after OOTP where Snape is found out as a spy and punished by Voldemort, then left alive supposedly useless. He is rescued and returned to Hogwarts. His commitment to living his life on his own terms is amazing, as is his learning to live with friendship. Currently at 9 chapters, it is complete, but is being posted chapter by chapter. So far, we're seeing a friendship develop between Snape and Lupin, although it will eventually become more.

The writing in this story is powerful, often with deep emotion, but what I love most are all the little things in the action, the dialogue, and the descriptions that create a very strong and vivid picture for the reader. Snape is quite in character. I don't see Lupin as friendly to Snape in canon, but this story works well with Lupin trying to develop a friendship with Snape and gradually coming to learn how to interpret Snape's moods, words, and actions.

Moreteaplease says this about her/himself: "Lives 15yr in Yorkshire, half hour from Spinners End, actually, (gentle gloat) and equal distance from Snape Hill,not to mention around corner from Minerva Road and the Kingsley estate! A veritable Potter fest then." If you have a sharp eye for British speech and customs in stories, you will enjoy the very British nuances throughout the writing in Suddenly Burn So Cold.
