Announcing: Fix It Fest...
Yes, we know this is what we've all been doing around here since July 21, 2007, but with the release of the final movie Snarry has reached another milestone. So what better way to acknowledge that but with a fest? And we use 'fest' in the loosest terms. It's more of a challenge. No matter what they throw at us, the Snarry ship will keep on sailing!
What do we mean by "Fixing it"? It means whatever you want it to mean. Any fix that features Snape and Harry will work. Whether it ends up being something from the DH movie adaptation or canon itself. Did something happen in the movie or in canon that is just plain wrong and you MUST fix it? The time or location of a certain rumored (and clearly exaggerated) death, perhaps? Do you need a bit of comfort after the hurt of seeing the film and the only way to make it better is to create something? Did one line or scene hit you especially hard? Is there an outtake or scene you think needs to be expanded or brought to light? That's what 'Fix It Fest' is all about.
FAQs:
Q. When does the fest begin?
A. Posting for the fest will begin July 15. The fest itself will end on Harry's birthday, July 31, but there will never be a time when we don't want you guys to keep posting Snarry. ;D A masterlist of creations made especially for the fest will be posted after the conclusion of the fest.
Q. I won't be able to see Deathly Hallows, Part 2 until later and I want to avoid being spoiled. How are you handling that?
A. In the fest header below we have added the code for the spoiler rollover and request that as a courtesy to our fellow fans that all entries hide the "spoiler/fix" under the rollover or use a cut as appropriate. Posters who are concerned they will be unable to code correctly are invited to ask a mod for assistance.
Additionally, we will post periodic reminders that spoilers for DH2 should be hidden or posted behind a cut.
Q. The movie hasn't been released yet. When should I start working on my entry?
A. The fix can be for any part of Deathly Hallows - part one of the movie, part 2, or the book itself. So feel free to start whenever you like. People create at different speeds and have different Snape/Harry centered events they would like to fix. All are welcome.
Q. Is there a minimum word count?
A. Nope! Fics from drabbles to novels are welcome as is art from drawbles to graphic novels.
Q. Where will the fest be held?
A. The fest itself will be hosted on snape_potter on DW, IJ, and LJ. BUT! Since people will be doing their own posting as they did for the 10 Years of Snarry Celebration, not all entries will be cross-posted to all journals. Though we strongly encourage cross-posting, we'll gather a masterlist of entries at the end of the fest so people don't miss any entries.
Q. Where should I submit my completed entry?
A. All participants will be posting their own entries. So anytime beginning July 15 just post to the snape_potter community(ies) of your choice. If you would like it to be included in the masterlist, please use the fest header post: If you choose not to use warnings at the very least per community rules you MUST indicate and lock all Chan (under 18) entries and as a courtesy to your fellow fen we ask you to warn for mention of spoilers for DH2. The rollover code to hide spoilers is in the header code.

For authors:
Q. I'm not an author or an artist. What if I just need to talk about the film with other Snarry fans. Will that have a place here?
A. Not in the fest itself, but when the film is released snape_potter will create a Reaction post where people are invited to discuss, vent, commiserate, or even post links to their own reaction posts on their journals. Though the post itself will not have spoilers, obviously folks should expect that comments to the Reaction post will be filled with spoilers for DH2 and they should not click on the comments if they wish to avoid spoilers. More details about the reaction post will be forthcoming.
As always, new folks and old veteran Snarry lovers are equally welcome at snape_potter. If you need help posting or would prefer a mod post for you, please email snarryathon@googlemail.com to make arrangements. We will be happy to help you.
