Snarry-a-Thon FIC: The GL, Oder Der Giftige Lautsprecher, nicht wahr?
Title: The GL, Oder Der Giftige Lautsprecher, nicht wahr?
Author: [info]rakina
Other pairings/threesome: Nope. Although Neville is very visible in this story, there are no sexual shenanigans involving him.
Rating: R
Word count: 24,734.
Warning(s): (highlight for spoilers) *No chan here – Harry is over 18 so everyone can enjoy. But you'd best keep your coffee away from your screens and keyboards while you're reading, okay?*
Prompt: #8. Neville Longbottom comes to Harry with a problem. The rare and extremely valuable Giftiger Lautsprecher plant that he just discovered in Germany insists that it's Severus Snape.
Summary: The prompt says it all... Genres: Humour, AU. Hypo-allergenic: 100% free of Ginevra Weasley. Now with added fluff and free happy ending.
A/N: I hope this is funny enough for all you wonderful Snarry readers who are joining us and disproving the death of our 'ship. Prove it further by gifting me with a comment, perhaps?
Thank you to the people who helped me with this, whom I will acknowledge later in my journal posting, and extra choccy biccies from Harry's secret stash to all the mods and originators of the Snarry-a-thon. My German beta tells me I need to drop the 'r' from 'Giftiger', which I've done in the German title. However, due to a transcription error from the original texts and wilful misspelling, English Herbologists added the 'r' and use it to this day. Let's be honest, the British suck at languages, which is why I needed a German beta in the first place.

The GL, Oder Der Giftige Lautsprecher, nicht wahr?

Fantastic story - I have no words. I have no idea who wrote it, but I'm very bad at that sort of thing.

'I may be a vegetable but I will not be disrepected' lol I loved "Vege" Snape. The touchy feely plant - priceless. So many great quirky ideas.

When I first read this prompt I wondered how anyone would do it well and now we have 2 fabulous fics - so different from each other - that have really made this prompt work well! Great job!

Ahahahaha! I loved this story, it was wonderfully done and rich in details that just made the story wonderful. I loved Snape as a plant, he was fabulous and wonderfully IC. I also enjoyed the fact that Harry and Snape didn't jump right into bed with each other once Severus was back in human form... smt fic are good but its nice to read something a bit more realistic... well... just ignore the irony in that statement.

*squees* *happy dance* another Giftiger Lautsprecher story! I was so excited to read this prompt and now there are two great fics. I loved the way you portrayed snarky plant!Snape and how Harry and Neville handled the situation and developed through the story. Also, I loved how the relationship between Harry and Snape grew gradually. Great job! cb

Oh, wonderful writing! You have crafted this so well that I found myself captivated by your world barely a paragraph in. All three characters were wonderfully portrayed and the easy relationship between them was a delight. However, plant-Severus was the creme de la creme of the tale. You depicted him exactly as I would imagine were he to be found as a vegetable. Thank you so much, Mystery Author, for writing this.

Gorgeous story! I really love this because I adore Neville and he makes a perfect partner for these two-they are very much tied together I think, these three. Loved the description of the plant itself (fabulous when he was speaking German LOL), all moaning about the fertilizer and his roots :P , the way they slowly brought Severus back to himself. And the epilogue was so wonderful-sending Harry a letter! Great job.

I really enjoyed this story on so many levels. I loved all the different plants and Harry's nightmare, but the half man half plant part was just inspired! Great job!

WOW. Severus Snape as a large, loud, grumpy, slightly frightened plant is an awesome thing to read! What a hugely creative fic this is, in so many ways! I love the humor, the endlessly elaborated descriptions of the GL plant and the long process of rescuing it.

I held my breath when Snape "sleep-walked" into the house that night on his poor little drying-out roots, and was worried he wouldn't make it back into the pot without suffering a setback.

There was an edge of pathos all the way through, because of the oddness of a person-turned-plant, that despite all the humor there too, gave the fic a convincing slightly science-fictiony undertone. This was perfect for the topic, the Victorian greenhouse setting, and the way Neville and Harry have to find their way through the challenge all by themselves. Harry and Neville lounging on the wicker garden furniture in the glasshouse, reading Sherlock Holmes to the giant exotic plant, added even more to the elegant and slightly ominous atmosphere.

The Epilogue dispelled this so beautifully at the end with the sunny cameraderie of the three partners. I must say, it was fun to see Snape come out of this with a deeper love of plants - almost some fellow-feeling, lol - and an appreciation at last for Neville's skills!

This is an inventive and funny story :) Loved Harry's strange dream about the touchee-feelee plant and the way Snape behaves (or doesn't) as a plant :)

Wonderful story. I really enjoyed reading it. It was creative and funny and romantic and perfect. I liked how Severus was able to get along with Neville, given their history, and remain in character, but he did.

Very fun, and I love the formal courtship at the end, very Severus. You did a great job with a prompt that I was initially fairly dubious about. A joy to read.

And would Snape not love it to be able to yell at 150 decibel :-P
I am sure he enjoyed that part a lot.

Great story, the interaction between those three is awesome. I love Snape as demanding vegetable.

That was really lovely! *happy sigh*
It was nice to see Neville come into his own here. :)
There were too many fun lines to quote, this was a very clever tale.
And thank you for the epilogue, it was perfect. Severus would be formal when courting, wouldn't he? *g*
I really enjoyed this, thank you!

Oh that is great! Great ending, meaning, suitably fluffy, yey. But the story, what a bizarre and extremely good story! ^_^ I mean the images it gave me were bizare - snape walking on his roots gotta be the most prominent one among them. I loved the image of the plant giving orders and bossing the two young men (ohh snapey...) I LOVED Harry getting aroused by a plant. That was just precious. Vegetable crabs. Testicle - like head and seeds... It was interesting throughout, and even though there was no snarry thing going much until the end, the end most definitely makes up for it, the ending is gorgeous, and I love it!! This is a great story!!

Oh, this has been wonderful reading! I really adore the image of Neville and Harry man- (or plant-)handling Severus back into his pot. Their little asides to each other during the whole process were so dazzlingly funny!

The description of the plant was so suggestive that I'm surprised Severus wasn't more embarrassed by it.

I was enthralled by your mature, efficient Neville, and Severus' grudging approval of him.

Beautiful story!

This was great! I loved the descriptions of the magical plants. And Snape, frightened but still in control even as a plant. Neville, refusing to be cowed by Snape's snark, was nice. And Snape courting Harry...Yay! A very satisfying read.
