The Road Goes On
Title: The Road Goes On
Author: [info]bohemianspirit
Genre: Slash, Humor
Characters: Severus/Harry/Draco
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 100
Challenge: [info]snape100 #282: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Notes: Following the adventures started by [info]zephyr_macabee and continued by [info]alisanne, the following story--which may or may not follow continuity by the time I post this--popped into my head. ;-) Apologies for crashing the road trip; I'm just another Dharma Bum hitching a ride to the next stop.

"No vacancy?" Severus groaned, reading the motel's sign.

"No hurry, Severus," Harry cheerfully called from the vicinity of Draco's torso.

"No hurry?" roared Severus. "I'm the one stuck driving, while you two--"

"Come on, Severus! Are you or aren't you a wizard?"

Severus clutched the steering wheel.

"About bloody time he figured it out," murmured Draco.

In short order the van was driving itself.

"Disillusionment," Draco piped up between gasps.

"Right." Another quick spell, and to outside eyes it would appear as if the self-navigating van had a human driver.

"Now," intoned Severus, clambering into the back of the van.

lol! I thought you didn't write Snapey slash. ;-)

I don't, generally, but only because I write Severus in terms of "realism," and I see the canon character as straight. (Also, most of my Snapefic tends to be of the creative-meta commentary-on-canon variety, rather than I-just-like-to-see-these-two/three/etc.-people-together variety, which seems to be where most shipping fandoms are coming from.) When it comes to humor and crack, however, suspension of disbelief rules the day and it's all just in fun, so anything goes, as long as it doesn't cross over into my personal squicks. ;-)

For the record: I'm not at all anti-slash. I do read it even if I don't usually write it, I sometimes write gay characters into my stories (e.g., a gay Remus in "Severus Evans"), and I find it annoying that people have to compartmentalize fanfic in terms of whether characters and couples are straight or gay. There's even at least one archive that insists that if any gay people appear in a chapter/story, it HAS to be marked as "slash"--which is just ridiculous. But that's another rant for another day.

Glad you enjoyed this!

P.S. - I also believe that, even if Tolkien didn't consciously intend it, Frodo/Sam is canon, or near enough as no matter. ;-)
